Guest guest
My son has had his Starband for 2 weeks and has had 1 adjustment and is doing great!!. I was wondering about something though. After they shaved out more of the void in the back the last time ( brachy) I noticed when i held it up i can see the blue coloring through the back of the helmet now on 1 side. I can not see this anywhere else in the helmet and I can just see the shadow of the coloring not the actual plastic. It is also the darkest area on the helmet. i was just wondering wether anyone else can see this in their helmets? I am hoping that after 2 weeks and 1 adjustment that this does not mean that there is little foam left to be shave out lol. because that would mean that he would outgrow his hepmet soon right? I am a nitpicker sorry guys. Thanks so much for any input!! Gavin 12 months(Starband 2 weeks and 1 day) Evan
Guest guest
When there is no foam to shave out in a certain area the band is too small. It does sound like you are close to that point, but that doesn't make too much sense after 2 weeks. I would ask the ortho and if it turns out they made the band too small to begin with they should make you another one for free. A starband usually lasts for several months. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > My son has had his Starband for 2 weeks and has had 1 adjustment and > is doing great!!. Guest guest
I don't know about the StarBand, but my son's DOCBand is white and he's been wearing it for almost 7 weeks. If hold it up to the light, I can see through that side (that's shaved out) more than the other, but I can also see through the side that isn't shaved. I have some orange tape down the middle of the back for a football helmet look and I can see the color of the tape through both sides of the band, it's just easier to see through the shaved side. We go every 3 weeks for adjustments and I'm assuming this band will last as long as the first one, which was 16 weeks with still quite a bit of foam to shave out. So after all of that, I'm not really sure what to tell you. I don't think that it's necessarily anything to be concerned about. Can you tell how much foam is left and does it seem like quite a bit? Or very little? Jake-22m (tort resolved/rt plagio/DOCBand #2 6 weeks) Jordan-4 > > My son has had his Starband for 2 weeks and has had 1 adjustment and > is doing great!!. Guest guest
I just checked Marlee's band and I can see through it too. I can even kinda see the color showing through parts that have never been shaved. I wouldn't worry too much unless the band looks or feels too tight on Gavins head:) We gad our adjustment on Friday and said Marlee still has a lot of room for growth in her current band. I think they just tell parents with older babies that the band only last 3mo b/c some babies will out grow it faster than others. I quess it all depends on when they have a growth spurt. Guest guest
Thanks for looking at her band. He does have alot of room left in it it seems so I will quit worrying lol. His helmet has alot of very light areas of blue on it so I think that must be why it does not show through everywhere else It makes sense they would say that about the time frame as well. . Although I am hoping 3 months will be long enough! He has finally quit sweating alot in it. He is nice and dry under there in the mornings to. Only some outside wich can not be helped in Florida. It is going alot a smoother than I thought. Thanks for the input, From: browneyedgrl2411 <browneyedgrl2411>Subject: Color showing through Starband??PlagiocephalyDate: Friday, July 18, 2008, 10:21 AM My son has had his Starband for 2 weeks and has had 1 adjustment and is doing great!!.
