Guest guest
Hi everybody, Today, Maysa received her helmet from ECA and she is not doing too bad so far. She gets a little restless when I try to put it on and even cries a little, but once it's on she is fine. Every now and then, when she starts to sweat a little too much, the helmet will slide a little forward. The ortho also said that the fact that she has so much hair will at first make it a little harder for it to stay in place but that it's normal. It's no where close to coming off her head though, so I am not too worried about that. On day one, she is supposed to wear it 3 hours on, 1 off and repeat the cycle but no night wear. We did a little less than 3 hours at first because it seems like she didn't know how to sleep in it. I didn't want her to get too upset, so I took it off during her nap this afternoon. She did sleep in it in her carseat on the way back home and did fine. Tomorrow, same thing: 3 hours on, 1 off and repeat but this time she will wear it at night. Hopefully she won't find it to uncomfortable to sleep in it. Otherwise, she is doing fine. I am glad that she is at an age where she likes to sit up and play with her toys that way, the helmet doesn't rub against her skin. By the way, there is no red or pink marks on her skin when I take it off, not one! (I am keeping my fingers crossed). I still have to take pictures and post them under the M folder to show other plagio parents what an ECA helmet looks like. Not as cute as many others I've seen, just dots (bolts) scattered here and there over the clear helmet and some kind of design on each side (that I didn't expect) but that makes it a little more girly. I really like the fact that there is no foam though. It is so easy to clean and dry. the little pads are replaced at every visit although they do not absorb any moisture either. I can also see the gap in the back of her head where her head needs to grow. It's neat to actually be able to literally keep an eye on it. I am so glad to see her in her helmet now. I will be going back to work in 4 weeks and being able to be around while she adjusts to it makes me feel so much better about it. Alright, it's getting late and I had a long day. I am off to bed looking forward to another great helmet day tomorrow. Leila, mother of Maysa, 1 day in ECA helmet.
Guest guest
Hi Leila,I'm glad to hear that Maysa is doing well. I hope that she'll sleep well during her first night in her helmet tonight. My son also had a clear helmet and I too found that is was very easy to clean and dry. The other thing that I liked about having a clear helmet was that I could easily recognize when adjustments were required. We did decorate his helmet with clear stickers to make it more fun for me. They stickers were easy to remove when it came time for the helmet to be adjusted. Also they did make the helmet more approachable or maybe just made me more relaxed when people did approach. I hope that Maysa's helmet will be very successful for her .
