Guest guest
Hi there- I'm sorry to hear of your struggles with napping/sleeping. Have they gotten any better since yesterday? I have heard that using memory foam can really help a baby sleep better in the helmet. I don't believe it's a fit problem unless you're seeing red sore spots on his head when you take the helmet off. It sounds like he just can't get comfortable with it on. The memory foam is available in twin mattress size and can be cut down to fit the crib. The extra cushioning helps the helmet rest into the mattress a little and may make him more comfortable. Also, dress him as lightly as possible, it could be a combination of comfort and overheating. Good luck! Jake-23m (tort resolved/rt plagio/DOCBand #2 10 weeks) Jordan-4 > > Hi all, I'm new and my 6 month old Tyler got his Cranio-cap on > Wednesday and I can't get him to nap in it!! Guest guest
Thanks ! The memory foam is a good idea...but how does it work with the whole SIDS issue and being told over and over to have him sleep on a firm mattress? Or does that risk go down once they are 6 months old? > > > > Hi all, I'm new and my 6 month old Tyler got his Cranio-cap on > > Wednesday and I can't get him to nap in it!! Guest guest
The risk of SIDS does go down after 6 months (I forget what the percentage is), but it's still there and I didn't put anything extra in my kids' cribs at all until well after 1 year old. I probably should have specified in my post that I personally would not have used the memory foam myself (there are just a few things I'm paranoid about and that's one of them). Luckily my son was much older when he got his band and slept like an angel the very first night, so I never even considered it. I just know that the moms who do use it swear by it and wanted to make the suggestion to you. I would suggest asking your ped about using it if it would make you feel more comfortable, I probably would if I was in your shoes. Has Tyler slept any better since the other day? Is he rolling over in his sleep yet? I do think it gets easier for them to sleep in a band when they are able to roll over on their own and find a comfortable position. For some reason, my son sleeps with his face planted into the mattress (slightly to the side) and his butt up in the air. How that's more comfortable than any other position, I have no idea. I hope someone else can chime in about their personal experience using the memory foam. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Guest guest
Thanks , the idea does make sense about the foam though. Tyler likes sleeping on his back and only his back, which is how we got into this situation in the first place! lol! He doesn't roll over in his sleep and can only go from tummy to back while awake. I KWYM about your sons fave sleeping position, my older son used to sleep like that from about 9 months till he was almost 2! I will ask the orthotist tomorrow at the adjustment about the foam too! We had Tyler wear the helmet last night for the first time and it was a rough night. It was 15 minutes of crying (for both of us) and he was up like 6 times last night. Fingers crossed for better luck tonight! -Bre > > > > > > > > Hi all, I'm new and my 6 month old Tyler got his Cranio-cap on > > > > Wednesday and I can't get him to nap in it!!
