Guest guest
The Clarren helmet is a passive band so it typically doesn't need bi-weekly adjustments like most active bands do. Passive bands also take longer to work so that is why you were probably given an initial time frame of 6 months. Even though the band doesn't need adjustments I would think that the ortho would still want you to come in periodically to check the progress that the band is making. I would definitely tell them that you want to come in for an updated scan. Perhaps some other Seattle people will chime in with their experience with the Clarren helmet. She spent the night in it and seems to be adjusting well. At our first consult at Children's in Seattle they said she would need to wear it a minimum of six months. When they scanned her head they said she would need it for around 4 months. At the helmet fitting they said 2 1/2 to 3 months. They put a foam liner in the helmet to cut down on the treatment time. I asked when we should come back for a check-up and they said we didn't need to unless there was problems. I asked when we got the next head scan and they said it wasn't needed. They said she should wear the helmet till we get the results we want or she outgrows it. I want numbers to compare, but they seem more into just eyeballing it. Has anyone else experienced this? We have been getting a fair bit of self correction but her head scan for the brachy was still 94.7 and her plagio was 3.6. We are also doing cranial sacral therapy as support to the helmet work. ~ ------------------------------------ For more plagio info
Guest guest
My son has a Ballert helmet. I believe this is also a passive helmet. He has had it for 3 1/2 months now. I think there has been some improvement but like the place you're going to, it's kind of just that they eyeball things. My son has had no measurements or scans so it is hard for us to tell if there has been any improvement. They don't see him often at all either. > > The Clarren helmet is a passive band so it typically doesn't need bi-weekly > adjustments like most active bands do.
