Guest guest
Hello and welcome to the group! There are many older babies that have great results. My son didn't start wearing his DOC band until he was about 6 months old. He wore it for just over 3 months. He had great results and now has a nice round head. From what I understand, a babies skull plates don't completely fuse together until there are over a year old and for some babies they don't fuse until there are closer to 18 months. All in all each baby is different and I'm sure you will see great results with your son. Best of luck Lorie Mom to Spencer and Alizabeth 15 months Spencer- Left Plagio- DOC Band GRAD 9/07-12/07 Glendale, AZ [sPAM] Results at 8-months Plus? Hello,I am new to the group. I am just looking for a little reassurance. My daughter gets fit for her orthotic next week, and after about two weeks to make the thing, she will be a full 8 months old before even starting. Have people on the group had good luck with starting at that age or older? She has plagio and I am really hoping to at least get the ears alingned (or at least better aligned) with the helmet. Thanks for your input. Guest guest
Greetings My son started to wear the DOC Band at 8 months. It has been three weeks and we can feel how the back of his head is shaping. It is rounding. We are also noticing that that the lump on the side is going down. There is some adjustment to the cap for the child which we did not expect. was fussy for the first week and when we had our first week follow up we found the cap needed to be shortened in the back so it would not rub. I also found using cortizone cream helped with the red marks the cap produced. One thing we didn't realize that when we got head butted by it really hurt so watch your face. He didn't mean it but he was so used to putting his face on my mind to get kissed that the cap with it's extra weight (6 oz) made it a weapon at times. Hang in there. Guest guest
Trish, I am surprised you are using cortizone cream. Is this because there is some itching? If the red spots are basically an irritation, I would think a product like Desitin would be excellent, because it has a very high amount of zinc, which is very healing for the skin. Was the cortizone recommeded? Guest guest
We were recommended to use hydrocoritzone cream for heat rash, and I have heard this from many other people. Some people are concerned about using it frequently but for us it was maybe 3 times in 5 mo. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > From: pabquinones <pabquinones@...> > Subject: Re: [sPAM] Results at 8-months Plus? > Plagiocephaly > Date: Friday, August 22, 2008, 2:16 PM > > Greetings > My son started to wear the DOC Band at 8 months. Guest guest
So, the red spots which parents have mentioned, are they a heat rash? Thanks, Joan From: christineashok <christineashok@...>Subject: Re: [sPAM] Results at 8-months Plus?Plagiocephaly Date: Saturday, August 23, 2008, 4:08 AMWe were recommended to use hydrocoritzone cream for heat rash, and I have heard this from many other people. Guest guest
No, not necessarily. I just meant that sometimes hydrocortizone is recommended. Whenever we had other red spots they were from pressure and we got an adjustment and didn't put any cream or lotion on the head. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > > > From: pabquinones <pabquinones@> > > Subject: Re: [sPAM] Results at 8-months Plus? > > Plagiocephaly > > Date: Friday, August 22, 2008, 2:16 PM > > > > Greetings > > My son started to wear the DOC Band at 8 months.
