Decorating the helmet can be so much fun! My son was in a DOC band for 12 1/2 weeks. I changed the theme of his helmet each month. For Oct I decorated it like "en Baby". Nov was supporting my college football team (Arizona State... go Sparky) and December I did the Grinch. You can decorate with regular acrylic paint and any kind of sticker, along with a Mod podge finish (to seal the paint/stickers). I found all of my stuff at Wal-Mart and our local craft store.

Hey everybody. I'm a new member and my nephew just go his helmet this week. We want to get ideas to decorate it. Sitckers? Where did you get it painted at? We want to make him look cool. Help usColin's Aunt Jen

I've done three diffrent designs for my son so far. The first one was an Argentina soccer themed one, the second said "Student Driver" in the front with his name and the back said "I do my own stunts". The third one which I just did this weekend is painted all black and says "UFC" on the side with his name in gold on the front. It also says "I'll make you tap OUT" on the back. I really think the latest one is the cutest. We've had so many comments about the designs on his band. In my opinion its better to decorate it. It lightens the situation and doesn't look so medical.
