deborah - most people with crohn's can't tolerate lactose, anyway! most are lactose-intolerant!! i know i am!!

what really helps me most is digestive enzymes with each meal; with or without milk!! at a certain age, out digestion process slows down, so they're good to take on GP!! (general principles)!!!

Hi Debora,

Cris here.

Just wondering why your pharmacist would change the filler from lactose to

LACTObacillus when

lactose is a suspected irritant?

I might be missing something in the translation - but here in Oz, probiotics

with either acidophilus

or dairy-free acidophilus are available - so pharmacists in USA should also be

able to offer either

version as a filler.

PS I'm a little slow so if I've missed something important, or if someone's

already asked this, just

ignore me - I'm used to it - my children have made it an artform LOL!

Regards,

Cris

I just spoke with my local compounding pharmacist and he's going to

replace my LDN with lactose with LDN with lactobaccillus. He uses the

powdered pure form of naltrexone. I also have LDN with avicel coming

from Skip's pharmacy, so I guess I'll start the acidopholus one first;

if I start having better results, I probably will just stick with that.

If it doesn't seem to change anything, perhaps I'll try the LDN with

avicel from Skip (Now I'll have two months worth to play with), and if

THAT doesn't work, I'll know LDN isn't for me. I really hope it was

just the lactose that caused a worsening of symptoms, and that I

tolerate my local pharmacist's acidopholus. I guess I'll find out....

Sorry for the confusion, Cris. Lactobaccillus acidophilus is the

complete name of this probiotic. That is what I'm switching to from

lactose. Lactobaccillus=acidopholus; it's not another lactose product.
