Guest guest
Hi ! I haven't used them, but wanted to welcome a fellow Jerseyan! We are lucky enough to be covered for CT in Paramas. Sorry to hear that you insurance won't spring for them, they have been fabulous. It does sound like banding would be a benefit to your boys heads. Good luck to you. - Hunterdon County 5 1/2 months old - 2 weeks DOCband
Guest guest
I have not heard of them. Do you know what kind of helmet they provide, like Hanger, StarBand or another? I hope you can get some input on them. I do know there are a lot of parents that go to the CT in Paramus (we go to the one in Charlotte), but I don't recall hearing about Nouveau. For what it's worth, CT does offer a " twin discount. " I don't have the prices at my figertips, but I can find them if you haven't been told about it yet. Just let me know. Good luck! Guest guest
I would go to CT in NJ, we drove there from Long Island along with at least two other mothers from my area. We all loved the service and the professionalism of the ortho. Please see Purvi Patel if you use the facility, she is the senior ortho and the best! I would see if you can get the twin discount and pay over a payment planned schedule. I would not go with Nouveau Prosthetics as it is a relative unkown to any of us NY NJ mothers. I also feel that you should apeal your insurance. They should cover a percentage even out of network. CT was out of network for me and I have Empire Insurance Government Teacher. I was able to recoup about 80% from them out of network. Give it a go. Let us know what you decide but dont wait too long as molding and everything can take a few weeks. The best appointments are the 8 am (the first one and the 1pm first after lunch, no waiting) Best of luck. Tammy mother to Cranial Tech grad. Banded Oct 31st done Dec 31st 2007. Guest guest
I haven't heard of them but used google to find them. they seem to use the starband and have a starscanner. However they have 11 offices, you would need to find out about the office you'll be visiting, who is the ortho, how much experience... My daughter wore a starband for brachy (flat in back) and did great, but we had a very experienced ortho, and that makes a big difference. CT has a great reputation, and I think you would be happy if you went to their NJ office, but if you do have to pay out of pocket it could be quite a bit of $. Hopefully you'll get some good feedback about the ortho. If not make sure to ask them lots of questions about how many babies they see, get references etc. Let us know what you decide to do. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Has anyone gone to Nouveau Prosthetics in Hazlet, NJ recently? > I'm a mother of 2 10 months old twin boys. Guest guest
Hi , A mom from the TorticollisKids group raved about the Hazlet office of Nouveau Prosthetics. Her son who got a STARband saw Joe Ghizzone, who apparently has 20+ years working with bands, and she told me she'd drive 3+ hours if necessary just to work with him (she also later mentioned was also very good). I also know that the Toms River office of Children's Specialized Hospital recommends them as well (my son who's 5 1/2 months has torticollis, and we're going to PT at the Fanwood Children's site). With that type of parental recommendation, I did contact Nouveau Prosthetics for some information. Unfortunately, I got a bit of attitude from a Camille there, who apparently handles the insurrance (I was referred to her to get some general information). From her attitude, I gather she only wants to work with parents who already have the prescription and letter of medical necessity in hand. I mentioned that to the other mom, who was quite surprised - she never got any issues from anyone else in the office, so that's probably just an isolated incident. Just thought I'd mention it for what it's worth, so your forarmed... Anyway, they will do a consultation/scan for $95, but they'll waive the fee if you get a band with them. The STARbands cost $3600 there without insurrance. If your insurrance will cover them 100%, I think it's definitely worth a consultation, even if you do end up deciding to go with Cranial. - mother of , 5 1/2 months. > > Has anyone gone to Nouveau Prosthetics in Hazlet, NJ recently? > I'm a mother of 2 10 months old twin boys. Guest guest
Hi , I always thought they have plagiocephaly (because of the bulging out forehead on one side and the slightly asymmetric faces). When we went for the free consultation at CT, the specialist told us that their heads are more of a brachy case. Where did you go for your Starband? Is it in NY or NJ? Guest guest
Hi , No, we were in California. Both starband and docband can be good at treating brachy, you just need to makes sure the ortho is experienced. You can see sydney's before and after pics in the photos section Our Plagio Babies S/Sydney M. She wore her band for 5 mo (a long time) but got very good correction. She has some forehead bossing too, which corrected. Who knows if her treatment would have been the same or less in a docband, but we were happy with the results. She had very little asymmetry (4.5 mm corrected to 3.5) but it is common for kids to have a combo of plagio and brachy. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > > > > > Has anyone gone to Nouveau Prosthetics in Hazlet, NJ recently? > > > I'm a mother of 2 10 months old twin boys.
