Do you nurse with a boppy pillow? This has helped me & my son both get comfy while nursing in the helmet. That was one of my main concerns when getting the helmet, I still wanted to be able to nurse :-)

nighttime seems to be getting worse...

Hi,Our daughter, Ava (9 mos) has mild right plagio and has been wearingher Hanger helmet full-time for about 4 days. She seems to tolerateit well during the day and during naps, and doesn't appear to mind theoccasional on/off routine to check for red marks; plus, her first twonights in the helmet were fine. But, the last two nights have beenpretty dreadful. Even before the helmet, she was waking up at least 2xa night to nurse - and I was OK with that b/c nursing for 5 mins wouldput her right back to sleep. But she HATES to nurse in the helmet itseems...she just rolls her head back and forth over and over again andit makes nighttime feedings (actually all feedings) really hard. WhenI try to skip the nursing and just give her a pacifier, she stillcries and screams and rolls her head back and forth. If I pick her upand fully wake her to soothe her (she is pretty much sleeping throughthese

episodes) then she's fully awake and smiling and happy. Goodfor her -- not good for my husband and I since we both work full timeoutside of the home. I've read the other posts about the foam mattress and am thinking ofdoing something like that too. She does sleep with us, so I'd have tofigure out how to fit it in our bed (at least where she sleeps). ButI'd love to hear any other advice you have. My other thought is,given that she's 9 months and has no teeth yet...maybe it's justteething and not even helmet-related? ? She has on occasion had a fewbad nights here and there over the last two months for no apparentreason. I sort of tossed those up to teething, but never really knewwhat it was. Thanks!e (mom to Ava, 1 week in Hanger band)

I do have the boppy pillow - but haven't used it in ages. I think I'll

pull it out again -- maybe it will do the trick! Thanks :-)

I fold one of his super soft blankets and hold it under his head. Also, I try not to position the bottom of the helmet on my arm. Instead, I try to hold his head more in the center of the back. The folded up blaket seems to give enough cushion so that the bottom edge doesn't hurt his neck.

He also has a favorite blanket (it is a velour type from target). I will admit that I did get him addicted to it by bringing it out everywhere, but it works wonders comforting him in the night since he does not suck his thumb or take a pacifier.
