Guest guest
I have 4 kids. All 3 of my girls have had to have tubes. My oldest now 11 didn't have plagio but had ear infections constant for her first year of life. She got tubes around 14 months and has only had ear infections twice since. Jenna now 6 had high moderate to severe plagio/brachy. She wore a STARband with wonderful results. She is now on her second set of tubes. The last time they took her adnoids out. The dr said they were huge and could have been a lot of the problem. She just got this set in Feb. 2008. My 18 month old had mild brach that we repositioned for. She had to get tubes this past Feb also. The dr went ahead and took her adnoids too since my 6 year olds issues. I also have a 8 year old son. He had brachy as a baby but I wasn't aware until looking back at old pictures. His thankfully self corrected a lot. I think due to sitting, crawling, and walking at an early age. He has only had 2 ear infections in his life. So I am not sure. I asked the specialist about it and he didn't seem to think it would be the cause. But in saying that I don't know how plagio knowledgable he is. To answer the hearing issue. Yes it could cause hearing loss if left untreated. Actually it is how we discovered the issue with both my 6 year old and 18 month old. They both failed hearing tests. I took them to the specialist and their ears were just full of puss and infection. Despite antibiotics the infections would come right back. So now with the tubes they are both hearing just fine. I hope this helps. Angie ear infections ,plagio and brachy my little girl has plagio and brachy and she has had her helmet for about 3 months she's doing go with it to, but she is having really bad middle ear infactions (shes had ear infections a little more then a month now in both ears). i was woundering if this my have something to do with her plagio/brachy ,has anyone elses child had multi ear infections and can this be caused by the assymetry of the tubes in the ears if so does anyone know what docters can do for the children with this problem and also can this problem cause a child to have lost of hearing .thank's cubie mommy to allysann (my plagio/brachy angel )in hanger helmet almost 4 months
Guest guest
My dd did not have ear infections... but one of my okder boys did have recurrent ear infections for the 1st year of his life. Turns out the bacteria was resistant to the antibios they were giving him. He ended up with tubes because of the hearing loss. If it goes on too much longer, see if they will switch the meds they are giving... it helped us!
