Guest guest
Hi, Our 10.5 month old has been in a Hanger band for about 5 weeks and her assymetry/ear misalignment has already improved 50%. Our ortho is very professional and we were pleased that he has over 10 years experience with bands (we've seen all of the old pictures of the bands!). Overall, so far so good! Our insurance covered it 80%, but I believe the total cost was about $2500. I have read some posts about the Hanger office in NY not being too great...and I did not personally like CTs approach when I contacted them, but I've heard good things from other mom's about their offices. So I really think that regardless of the manufacturer it depends on the actual office and the experience/patience of the ortho. My two cents :-) kristine, mom to ava, 5 weeks in hanger band
Guest guest
Hello. My Daughter wore a Hanger cranial band and she got great correction. The real key, with whichever band that you use, is the experience of the Orthotist/therapist. As long as the Orthotist is experienced with cranial banding, you should be able to get great correction with either band. They both work on the same principles... the real differences are only physical (Hanger covers more of the head and weighs about 2oz more than the DOC, though babies usually seem to tolerate both bands equally as well). Guest guest
I agree with the last mother. It is up to the ortho and the fit of the helmet. The Hanger in Ny area does not have a good reputatioon on this board. Go to Ct in NJ if this is the facility you are considering. Two fellow moms were in ill fitting hanger helmets and had to switch to CT after bad experiences. I live on long island but on the advice of these moms drove to Paramus NJ and never regretted it. We have received excellent correction and my son was treated professionally and by the best in the business. I figure if you have a hanger and a ct in your area go to ct. They developed and have the original patent on the helmet. They also only do helmets. I would always perfer to go to a specialist in an area than a general place. If you have a heart issue you go to a cardiologist. Not someone who is in general practice. Just my opinion. Guest guest
Thank you, Jen and , for your responses. We found out yesterday that our insurance will cover 100% of the cost of the Hanger band! That made our decision really easy. Your favorable opinions helped too. We'll have our band fitted in 2 weeks. Thanks & blessings, Stasia > > > > Hello! I was wondering if any of you have had experience with Hanger > > cranial bands.
