Guest guest
I'm writing this to update my previous post and because I feel Nopco has been unfairly represented on the board. It seems the few people who have posted were mostly negative and some were very negative. Parents in Boston shouldn't feel like they have to drive all the way to CT to get this problem corrected as some posting would have you believe. My son, , is now in his 7th week in the Boston Band from Nopco. We had the helmet fitted at the Longwood location. He had a 99% cephalic index/Brachy. At the 2 week visit (we went to the Braintree location in the Blue Hills Medical Center) he was already at 97%. We just went back again at 6.5 weeks and he is now at 93%. They say they would like to get it to around 88. In other words, he's making good progress. He has redness only on his cheeks and only when excessively sweating on very hot days. When his helmet is removed, the redness goes away in about 15 minutes (time once he cools down). The sweating on the rest of his head has somewhat plateaued after the first week. He has no other fit issues. He didn't need an adjustment at the first visit, but this visit they did give him a little more cheek room as he is growing. He sleeps fine in the helmet, and is moving through all of his normal developmental milestones with no problem. The one aspect of Nopco I've been dissatisfied with is the billing dep't where they repeatedly have made mistakes in submitting our claim and we are still muddling through it (after having to pay up front). I hope it's eventually resolved. As for the helmet and it's intended outcome, we seem to be tracking just fine. Hope this helps ease other Boston mommies (or dads!) minds about Nopco or helmeting in general. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns. > > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > I have been reading the archives and have read nothing but bad > > things > > > > about NOPCO in Boston Children's Hospital. Guest guest
Thank you for posting about your positive experience at NOPCO. It should be very helpful for any parents in the future considering going there. Molly My Nopco Experience Update....Making Good Progress.
