Guest guest
You definitely don't want to take the band off during the day unless it is absolutely necessary. You'll miss a lot of growth time. My daughter wore her band in the summer. We took if off from time to time if she was going to be in the sun. But for the most part we kept her cool. Staying inside more, going to the park early before it got too hot, etc. Hopefully your baby will only be in the helmet a few months so changing your schedule to maximize time with it on is a good idea if you can do it. As for the red bumps on the cheeks. My daughter got heat rash a few times in her sideburn area. It was small red bumps. We put hydrocortizone on it, let it dry then put the band back on. We checked to make sure it wasn't getting worse, and kept her cool. As for that guy in the HG rally, too bad his granddaughter didn't get a new band that fit properly instead of just throwing out the bad one. I'm glad you're seeing improvement. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Yesterday my husband took our son for the first follow-up (4 wks > w/Dr @ Vandy). He commented about the improvement. Guest guest
Glad to hear you're seeing improvement! I hope he didn't have red spots today. I don't think I've heard of the loose skin on his forehead before. Does it feel like a blister is forming? I think it would be worth asking the doctor/ortho about it. I hope some moms with baby's in daycare can chime in on that part. My son is in preschool 2 days a week and we never had a problem with his band and his teachers are very supportive. Hang in there! Guest guest
The only reason I'm considering letting them take it off is if they'll take him outside during the hotter part of the day. Right now it's not an issue b/c the temps are cooler. We are believing he won't be in the helmet too long. > > > > Yesterday my husband took our son for the first follow-up (4 wks > > w/Dr @ Vandy). Guest guest
No. It's like when you lose weight and the skin is a little loose. It's just not as tight. Looks like eczema. Nothing new to us. We'll use hydrocort. I have time to think about the daycare taking off the helmet, b/c the temps are cool. > > > > Yesterday my husband took our son for the first follow-up (4 wks > > w/Dr @ Vandy).
