Guest guest
were you as disciplined before surgery? ARE YOU KIDDING????? Seriously, I would eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream when I got home from work as an appetizer. This was at least twice a week. I would also eat Pringles as I made dinner. A whole box of Pasta Roni was also a staple for me. We had fast food at least twice a week and some nights I would just have a second pint of ice cream as my dinner. I would eat huge portions of anything and everything that looked tasty and bad for me. I never once exercised more than walking to the kitchen. Since surgery, sweets taste funny and really strong. I still like some of the stuff, but after about 2 bites I have had enough. Protein is really what appeals to me, but I still eat whatever I want. Today I had pizza for lunch, but ended up picking off the cheese and eating very little of the bread. I am still early in my post-op (2 mo.) but I am not feeling deprived at all. I keep a lot of cheese and lunch meat around so I can still eat quick and on the run. I also have gotten great advice from this group and have ordered some protein bars. Surgery does force a lot of the discipline. I have not felt forced and I feel like this is the best thing I could have done. Kathy M.
