Guest guest
Please, before you make any decision to tummy sleep your children, you HAVE to talk to your pediatrician. That has to be an educated decision made by you and the doctor. Your pede can tell you when it is safer to sleep your children on their tummies. My pede told me that when my kids could roll over and back on their own then if they wanted to sleep on their tummies there was nothing I could do to stop them. So when my plagio baby got old enough and had the ability to roll both ways then I will admit she did sleep on her tummy. But I would never have let her w/o the discussion with the pede. Please just be safe with your dc. I am the first one to admit that my kids slept on their tummies when they could, but I will never advise anyone to dothat with their kids because while plagio is a serious thing, SIDS is a more serious thing. So please speak with your pede and also while having the discussion, also discuss side sleeping as an option rather than tummy sleeping. Guest guest
My hubby was told in not so many words by my doc (off the record) that it was ok when he was 5 months...At that point he could roll on his own, and lift his head. I tell you that- to tell you this- we put him on his stomach to sleep and kept him off his back at all times, from 5-9 months he did not get any better ...so I still think putting them on their back is the best until they can roll themselves over. I was a nervous wreck and was so scared when we put him on his tummy at first. Who knew being a Mom was such an emotional roller coaster- and a battle! > > > > Hi All > > I know it will take some time to get our babies helmets so in the > the meantime- I am > > considering having them sleep on their tummy to help with > repositioning. Guest guest
I too was told that as long as they are able to roll front to back and back to front they can sleep on their tummy if they wish...there really isn't anything you can do anyway. When my son first started sleeping on his tummy, around 5 months, it concerned me and I would always flip him onto his back...he'd always flip back though. You'd have to be up all night flipping them back over every 30 minutes. Any way, just like the person before me said...even with him being off of his head all the time, his head shape has not changed and he is almost 8 months now. We will be banding him this month. So, if your babies are sleeping on their tummy on their own, let them cause they must be more comfortable that way. If they prefer to just sleep on their backs, just let them do that and then keep them off there backs as much as possible while they're awake. Hope this helps! - Aiden's mom > > > > > > Hi All > > > I know it will take some time to get our babies helmets so in > the > > the meantime- I am > > > considering having them sleep on their tummy to help with > > repositioning. Guest guest
Thank you all for your feedback- Although I know it is not directly my fault but It is hard not to feel guilty that my babies are dealing with plagio and tort now due to them laying more on their backs. I will def. confirm with my pedi he thinks is best. > > > > > > > > Hi All > > > > I know it will take some time to get our babies helmets so in > > the > > > the meantime- I am > > > > considering having them sleep on their tummy to help with > > > repositioning.
