Guest guest
Smart move !!! We have Kaiser here in LA too and we ran into the same problem that you did. It wasn't until I threatened to take her to a different cranio-facial dr outside Kaiser that suddenly she DID have plagio and they wrote a script. Did you see wexler or shinno? I found Shinno to be more sympathetic... but I heard she was ill and she may not be around anymore. Wexler was so intolarable... I refuse to see him anymore! Anyway - we went with who they said and If I knew then what I know now... I would have gone else where. The ortho we saw was good - but the band was not. Looking at it now I see that it was asymmetrical. My dd has had subsequent MRI's that show her skull shape and it is actually worse in some ways. But it is better in others. Anyway - I just wanted to 2nd your decision!!! Jen and Luli - 29 months Left tort - Right Plagio - Hanger Band Grad - CA http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/j/jens5th/ Re: LA area newbie confused. Hi, We just got my daughter's starband helmet from Shaun this week. I don't have anyone to compare him to but he is great in person and with babies. It seems like he has loads of experience. We saw him a few months ago where he told me my daughter had 19mm of asymmetry. We then went to our insurance carriers for an appt. (Kaiser) and they told us it wasn't severe, and to try repositioning. Well 4 months later-there wasn't a change. Kaiser's L.A. team doesn't believe in helmet therapy, and we went back to Stellar and are paying out of pocket. I just don't have the time or energy fight Kaiser right now... And, Kaiser would have sent me to their own providers and I want someone who I know has worked with plagiocephaly A LOT! Anyway, good luck!!! > > my 7 month old daughter with palgio/ tort just saw dr. john graham this week and was > given a prescription for a cranial orthotic. my daughter also has moderate hypotnia (low > muslce tone) that contributes to her plagio. dr graham gave me "the list" of providers - > and i asked him if there were any providers he preferred and he said "they're all good" - i > didn't realize that each of the providers offer a different type of orthotic - i'm wondering if > some types of orthotics are helpful for different types of deformities? she has a CI of 77% > and DD of 1.2cm - mild frontal bossing. our PT says she has more experience with the > more traditional type helmet ( like at lerman & son ). i noticed some people had bad > experiences at that place.
