Guest guest
We are in Connecticut. Yes I went to get a consult for the Star band and wasn't totally comfortable. That's when I followed up on my friends advice to go to get a consult at Doc band. I'm going there Thursday, and I think I will probably have DS fitted while we're there. We've pretty much decided that we're going to go with them. Not only was choosing which company to go to hard, but choosing whether to even do it was hard. I'm not totally convinced there's a medical need for it in DS's case, but if there's any chance he'll have problems in the future we think it's worth it. I know it'll be hardest on me ...On Jul 26, 2008, at 10:06 PM, cinyhowes1 wrote:I am in the same exact dilemma. Guest guest
Take this for what it is worth. My dilemma was that my Ins would cover the Starband and not the Doc. I debated and pondered and asked lots of questions on this board. I felt that everyone had such great experience with Doc and I felt if I did not choose them, I would not get the same results that others talked about. I was able to meet a few people in the office and online that go to my Ortho and I heard what great results they were getting or got already. It made me realize that the Starband IS AS GREAT as the DOC. I went with the Starband after much debate! Bryce has had awesome results!!!!!! I do believe that I had a good ortho..and that was a large contributor. In all honesty, I believe that BOTH bands do the same thing. Your son is still young and I believe that you WILL see the SAME results, regardless of what band you use. I don't know how feasible that 90 min drive is every week or two. If you have problems in the beginning, which is pretty common (adjustments and such)...you will be putting in some real travel time. Personally I would check out the references form the Starband place. I would try to go with the Starband if I was you! I work 50+ hours a week and then with travel time...its hands down Starband for me. I also wanted to be close to the office, so if Bryce needed to be seen, I could get there quick. Obviously, my bias is due to my great success with the Starband. My sons pics are under the B's at the end.... Bryce before and after. He was dx with severe plagio with slight brachy. You have a big decision to make! Good Luck! Also, are you sure that is not someone on here from your home town? (mom to Bryce (7 months, 3 weeks) 10 weeks in Starbnd...graduating on Friday!!!!) Re: new member must decide between doc band and star band we had a starband from a very experienced ortho, and were happy withit. I would recommend visiting both offices and seeing which you aremore comfortable with. Cranial Tech has a great reputation and alltheir staff seem well trained from what I know (mostly from thisboard). The starband success depends on how good the ortho is - andthis varies a lot. -christinesydney 2.5 yrs starband grad>> DS will be 7 months and we need to make a quick decision to go withthe STAR band or the > DOC band. Guest guest
My son is in a STARband and he is doing great. Our ped sent us for a STARband so we never went for a consult for a DOCband. Either band will do the same thing, you just need to make sure you have an experienced ortho. Re: new member must decide between doc band and star band I am in the same exact dilemma.
