Guest guest
Hi !We, too, go to the Skokie office and think highly of Joann and Kay. Our daughter is 6 months old and is entering her third week in the band.Did you pediatrician pick up on 's brachy or did you? I'm always curious.Good luck with everything! We are in Barrington and frequent the northwest suburbs, so perhaps we'll run into you and !Kindly,Sandy Ruffmom to Lyla - 6 mo - 3 weeks in DOC Bandand Owen - 4 tomorrow We're new here :-) Hello everyone, My name is Roderick and my son is 5 1/2 months old. He was just diagnosed with brachycephaly. We've started going to Cranial Technologies in Skokie, IL, and just got back from our second appointment. Today they took the 3D image of 's head and it is being sent off to Arizona for his molds and band to be made. So he will be starting to wear the DOC band within the next couple of weeks. We have been meeting with Kay, and today also met Joanne. Both are absolutely wonderful. I'm nervous to see how will react to having his band on, but it made me feel better that when they put the stocking on his head today (to take the 3D pic) he just laughed and stuck his tongue out through the stocking. So maybe it won't be so bad. I'm glad to have found this group! I don't know anyone else personally whose child has gone through this experience, so I am really excited to be able to ask questions and just read other's stories. It's nice to "meet" all of you! Guest guest
We are almost through week one! We go in tomorrow for our one week check-up, but had to make an unscheduled trip last Thursday due to red areas not going away (mostly on the little bulges above his ears). We saw Kay and she shaved off some of the band to lighten the pressure a bit. It has been much better this weekend, just some smaller spots that are light pink. We are extremely fortunate to live 20 minutes from the Skokie IL CT office, so Kay saw us Thursday before the long holiday weekend to alleviate some of my anxieties; I don't know if I would have left it off most of the weekend or what. But I think his skin is getting used to it now and is showing no signs of breakdown. I brought up 's brachy to his pediatrician. I brought it up first thing at his 4 month checkup, so I don't know if she would have spotted it and I just didn't give her the chance. :-)She just had a meeting with the CT folks, and has referred quite a few patients over there. So I was lucky that we have a doc that is familiar (and supportive) of the band. We live on the far northwest side of Chicago. Have any moms/babies from the group gotten together for some playdates??
