Guest guest
Hi - Sorry I forgot to respond the first time you asked this question. My Jake has the exact same thing, it's the exact length of the velcro opening and is about a half inch in width. I never noticed he even had it until day one in his second band. I only know it's there to feel it, it's not visible otherwise. But I was also told that it would go away after graduation, that it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. I have heard of other parents having similar bumps and bulges (from soft tissue and fluid buildup) and no one has come back to say it never went away, so I have to assume that it will. Guest guest
My son has the same bulge above both his ears where the helmet isn't covering the area. I first noticed it within a week or so into treatment and took him in right away. I guess it is very common for fluid to collect in the area not covered by the helmet but once the helmet comes off for good it should go away. If not, I have even a bigger problem than a flat head (mom to Gavin 9 1/2 months- 8 weeks Hanger) > > > > > > > > I have heard the word regression thrown around on other plagio > > > sites. > > > > Does any one know if this is a real risk? Guest guest
Funny this subject would come-up today. I just picked-up my son from day care. He's in the first week of the helmet, and our orthotist is having us ramp-up in time. Today we are at 8 hour intervals. So when I picked up my son, and the helmet was off, I noticed a soft spot on his forhead. It looks like it is a little swollen, mid-eye to mid-eye wide and about maybe 3/4 tall. Anyone have this happen? I have a call in to the orthotist and will not be putting the helmet back on until he checks this out. But again, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. He's in a Hanger, bi-valve (cut on both sides) Thanks > > > > > > I have heard the word regression thrown around on other plagio > > sites. > > > Does any one know if this is a real risk? Guest guest
I'm not sure about the Hanger bi-valve exactly, but our therapist at CT told me that the soft tissue/fluid bulges can also occur around the " caps " of the DOCBand. So maybe it's possible that the Hanger band is causing a similar bulge in his forehead area. Is it right above his eyebrows, in line with the bottom edge of the helmet? I don't know for sure though, so it's best to leave it off until you get it checked out. I have not heard of the bulge in that area before, so please update us on what the ortho says.
