Guest guest
Hello - my daughter is 9 months old and started wearing the DOC band a week ago. A couple weeks ago however, my chiropractor told me about the same therapy you are describing. It sounded sooo much better than the band but the band was already on order so I decided to just continue my original plan. All I know about the therapy is that my chiro said we'd have to go 2 or 3 times a week for a few weeks and it was some kind of 'adjustment' of the skull plates in the baby's head. He said it works wonders but I was nervous about something like that and didn't look more into it since, like I said, we already had her band on order. My chiro never steers me wrong tho and I highly respect his opinion, so I would think it would work if he said it would! Let us know what you end up doing! But also, I just have to add that the band is NOT as bad as I thought it would be, so if you end up going that route, try not to worry. My baby doesn't even realize it's on her head and after only 3 days of wearing it, the specialist said he already sees improvements, and so do I!!! I'm excited now to see her progress. Good luck!! > > Our son has positional plagiocephaly and torticollis. Like many others, > neither were diagnosed by our doctor, even with my pointing out various > signs... Guest guest
Hi- I would try the Older Plagio message board if you haven't already: OlderPlag/ The parents on that board know a lot about alternative treatments because they have tried almost everything to correct the plagio naturally after missing the helmet window. My personal opinion is I wouldn't wait much longer to band if that is all a consideration for you. We didn't try any therapies (other than PT for the tort early on) and we didn't end up banding my son until he was 17 months old. The progress is so much slower the older they are, and just in case the therapy wouldn't work, I would hate for you to miss a good window of opportunity with regards to helmet treatment. Definitely look into cranial sacral more, but my limited knowledge of it is that it's very time consuming and expensive (I'm not sure if it's covered by insurance, I know a lot parents pay out of pocket 50-60 bucks per session) and takes a while to work. Good luck with your decision! Jake-22m (tort resolved/rt plagio/DOCBand #2 5 weeks) Jordan-4 > > Our son has positional plagiocephaly and torticollis. Guest guest
we have treated our daughter's plagio and tort w/o a helmet. she goes to chiro - which has resolved the tort. she also gets CST, but only once a month now. She went from 30mm asymetry to 10mm. She is now 13mo. I know there are a couple of websites w/more info on both chiro and CST. I will try to find them. Guest guest
You can search for CST or cranial sacral in the old message in this group. It has come up a lot and some people are convinced it works. However it doesn't have the scientific studies and evidence to back it up to the same extent as banding. At 9 mo I wouldn't take a chance with CST alone. I would try it along with banding if you are intereted. CST is a bit controversial. I'm sure it won't hurt, but it isn't clear that it will help either. Banding is very effective. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > Our son has positional plagiocephaly and torticollis.
