Guest guest
Hi all- I just wanted to update you on Jake's progress. As some of you know, he has been wearing a DOCBand for 15 weeks now (started at 17 months old, now almost 21 months). At his last adjustment appointment last week (at 14 weeks), he was measured for the first time since starting treatment. Here is his progress: Traditional Cranial Vault: started at 15mm, now 11mm Cranial Vault: started at 19mm, now 10mm Skull-Base: started at 15mm, now 10mm Measurement-wise, it's about what I hoped for (though I don't like to put too much stock in just numbers). Visually, I can really see an improvement in his forehead bossing (the most in just the last couple of weeks), which was my main concern. His flat spot however, is still noticeable (not so much from the top of his head, but when he looks down at about a 45 degree angle, it's still flat towards the bottom where measurements aren't taken). The CT Charlotte office just got their new Digital Surface Imaging (DSI) system set up, so no more casting!!! Jake was scanned and after reviewing the scan and talking it over with our therapist in detail, we decided that we would try a second band to see if we could get anymore correction. By reapplying new pressures to his prominent areas and making a new band to fit his current head shape, we can hopefully see additional change, though it's not guaranteed at his age. But we're willing to try, so on June 2nd, Jake will be getting his second DOCBand! It is projected he will wear this one for 6-8 more weeks, and I'm hoping it will make that last bit of difference in his overall head shape. And if it doesn't, at least I can say I tried everything I could (aside from starting treatment a year earlier, of course!). Guest guest
It sounds like he is receiving great correction so far. Good luck with the second band. I am praying for some big growth spurts over the next few months! Angie Older baby update: Jake is getting a second band Hi all-I just wanted to update you on Jake's progress.
