Graduated - repositioning and band

Hello,I just wanted to give an update and let you know about my experience as this might be helpful for somebody and especially for people who are deciding now whether to band or not.We went to CT at the beginning of April when my son was 5 months old. His cephalic index was measured at 96.3 which is 4:5 standard deviation. It sounds worse than it actually was as I could see the flatness but it was not so severe in my mind (I had looked at many pictures so I had a basis for comparison) so I was not sure whether I want to band or not. I tried repositioning for a month and in the mean time I was working on approval from the insurance. We were approve for $3000 of the cost so we decided to band as it is not going to be so expensive and I did not want to regret later. When we went for casting exactly a month later, thanks to the repositioning ( I was really going crazy at the baby and i made the nanny do the same, it was hard but I had decided to give my best) the cephalic index was 93.6 or only 2.4 standard deviation. My son was in the band (DOC Band) for 7 weeks and yesterday we were measured at 89.1 or only 1.7 standard deviation. There is not asymmetry or anything else so his head looks pretty good and everybody at CT was amazed we got so good result so fast considering my son is now 8 months and 2 weeks. We are leaving the country so we are going to stop wearing the band in a couple of days, but I am going to continue with repositioning, which I hope is going to be a lot easier as my son sleeps on his tummy, crowls, and sits (he can put himself to sit), trying to stand, etc. I am hoping to get the ratio down to 85 which is only 2 over the normal of 78 -83, but even if it stays like this I will be fine.I just wanted to point out, that with repositioning I got the ratio down from 96.3 to 93.6 in a month, and with the band for 2 months from 93.6 to 89.1. I am happy we banded as it was a lot easier on me (we had no problem with the band, no red spots, no crying, etc), everybody at CT was great and I am sure it helped a lot to get the shape of the head my son has now, but I am convinced that if you do not want to band, but you are ready to do repositioning all the way you can get pretty much the same results, but you have to commit to it.I am glad we banded, but I just wanted to give credit to the repositioning as well as I saw good results with both.Good luck to all of you who are dealing with this problem and I hope I see more improvement as I continue monitoring my son.Totti
