Guest guest
1. Does anyone here had the experience of not seeing any progress/improvement with your child's head shape after helmet treatment in a month's time or even after that? 2. Does anyone here had the experience of not seeing any progress/improvement with your child's head shape with helmet treatment, and decided to switch to another helmet maker and seen better changes after that? I know there's a lot of factors that affect the results of the helmet treatment, but i'd like to have a realistic expectation on how much we could get from it. My 16-month daughter had her locally-made helmet for a month's time now and i have yet to see any significant changes on her head shape. Now i'm torn if we should consider getting a DOC band overseas. Which is quite a big adjustment if we go ahead. Thanks, Chris
Guest guest
I think most see at least some progress in a months time. . Did you take before band pictures to compare to now? We have had members have to switch band makers and some have had to have the same maker make a new band. WOuld you share what facility you are using? Maybe someone in the group has gone there and could share their opinion. Good luck. Angie I have two questions.. 1. Guest guest
My son was banded in early January with a DOC band - he was 11 months old at the time. It was a poor fit from the beginning and eventually lead to a replacement band. Well, we saw very little improvement the 10 weeks he was in that first band. He had pictures taken at 8 weeks which we compared to the "before" pictures and there were some very subtle changes but overall very dissappointing for 8 weeks. Once we got our second band I saw some bigger changes. Now we're almost done with the band and although he still has a flat spot, the overall shape has improved significantly. I'm pretty happy with his shape knowing that he started older than most. We considered changing companies only if they didn't replace his band for free but then did. Do you take pictures of her head when she's in the bath? I think those helped the most in determining of there was any improvement. Good luck with your decsion. Guest guest
Hi Lea, How do you determine that your first band was a poor fit from the beginning? Was it too loose and shifting around? Guest guest
It was shifting around too much, it covered part of his right ear and towards the end would dig into his left cheek. In the beginning it was too loose and they said he'd grow into it but after 6 weeks or so, it was almost too tight. I couldn't get it to sit right on his head anymore. You know how in the front center it has a little point on the bottom that's supposed to sit between their eyebrows? Well, Caleb's sat over his right eye. If you're worried about fit like I was and you're not getting the attention you think you deserve, ask for a second opinion from another therapist.
