I don't know of anyone in NYC, but you can go to Cranial Technologies (Doc Band) in Paramus, NJ (there are none in NY) for a free evaluation. They will do measurements and photos and tell you numerically what his asymmetry is. You can use this info to get an Rx from your doctor.

My son is in a similar situation - his tort and head shape are a result of in utero positioning. After 2 months of pt and repositioning his head hadn't improved so we went forward with the band (he was 5 months). We have since learned that it is harder to fix the asymmetry when it is coupled with torticollis. So you are doing well to get on it early. Good luck.

I think my baby have plagiocephaly...

I am a new mom of twins, boy and a girl. They born on March 17 2008 at36 weeks of gestation. I noticed right away that might have aproblem the symmetry of his face and a tendency to have his head alwaystoward the same side. I asked my doctor if that was normal, they saidyes because didn't have room in my belly, basically he gotstuck in my pelvis for almost all of the pregnancy, also they indicatethat the problem will go away in future months. I wasn't satisfiedwith that answer so I contacted the Early Intervention Program. qualified for their services and now he is receiving PT to treat historticollis. Now, the shape of his head is not symmetric. My husband andI were talking about this today and he decided to go online to find someanswers and I found this group. I would like to know if someone knows agood doctor here in NYC, we live in Manhattan. We would like to receivea

formal diagnostic. Thanks, Paola
