Guest guest
Hi, 5 mo is a great time to get started with a docband and I recommend starting immediately. 30mm is really severe. Our specialist (cranio facial plastic surgeon) recommends banding at 10mm or above as a point of reference. You may get some correction with Bryce's severity it really won't be enough to avoid banding, and if you have to band anyway sooner is better. My daughter wore a starband for brachy and did great. She started at 5 mo, and although our doctor gave us the option of waiting longer (and trying repo) I am really glad we got her in a band quickly. She wore it for 5 mo, and got good correction. If we started later it would have taken longer to get the same (or maybe lesser) results). At first the idea of banding is overwhelming, but it really is much easier than you can imagine right now. Also for the CST if $ is tight, I wouldn't continue. If the $65 is no big deal, then it doesn't hurt to try it in conjunction with banding. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > My son, Bryce will be 5 months old on the 7th. Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. I am so sorry about the runaround you have gotten in the past months. It is especially sad that no one made an issue about the severity of his plagio, and 30mm is REALLY severe. It is good that you are starting to reposition now and I would suggest continuing to do so as aggresively as possible until Bryce starts treatment with a band. You may get some degree of correction if you are still repositioning through the growth spurt most babies have at 6months. However, with the severity of your son's plagio, I wouldn't count on repositioning providing satisfactory correction. My suggestion would be to pursue band treatment and reposition him in the meantime while you are waiting. Please trust yourself on this.
