Guest guest
Hi, I've been reading a couple threads where the group has helped interpret measurements. I was hoping to get the same thing so we can make the most educated decision as to if/when to get a band. My son had his free consult with the Paramus office of CT 3 weeks ago. At that time, his measurements were as follows: Cranial Vault Asymmetry: 15 mm Mid-Face Asymmetry: 6 mm Skull-Base Asymmetry: 5 mm Cephalic Index: 84.2 (2.1 standard deviation) Most people who look at him don't see the flat head or the asymmetry, but now that it's been pointed out to me, I can definitely see that his ears are out of alignment, bossing on his right forehead etc. I think the ears, other facial assymetry concerns us the most, since I don't think that will resolve on its own. As an aside, for anyone in the North Jersey area who has seen Dr. Podda at St. ph's in for their Cranial Facial clinic, would you share your experience and opinion (i.e. how much time did he spend looking at your child, did he recommend DOC Band treatment, did you find it valuable, would you recommend this for another parent looking for 'expert' advice, etc.)? I understand he does this in conjunction with Paramus CT, which I find concerning... Again, just considering all possible avenues... Thanks in advance, - (mother of , 5 1/2 months, right tort/plagio)
Guest guest
Hi, Our specialists (cranio facial plastic surgeon) recommends banding at 10 mm or above, and some band at lower numbers. Based on that and my own observations (two years in this group) I would definitely band at 15 mm, especially since there is facial asymmetry. I think 15 mm is considered high moderate to severe. If he was younger you could give repo a try, but by 5.5 mo they are pretty mobile, and unlikely to stay where you put him. Given his age and severity I would go ahead and band quickly. The sooner you band the sooner you'll be done. CT in Paramus has a great reputation, so if you go there you should see very good results. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hi, > > I've been reading a couple threads where the group has helped > interpret measurements. Guest guest
I agree! I'm new to this board, but our daughter (6 mo) just got her DOC Band today (Glenview, IL). Her number was considered moderate at 10mm. Like many, it was hard to spot for most, but I knew it was there. Her right ear is further forward and she has the prominent forhead "bossing." The technician told us tat even though it wasn't super obvious now, it would become more so once her face started filling out in the elementary school years. I would hate for her to realize it was something we could have corrected, but didn't. Once the band was on today, I could see th difference in her ears much better. I can't wait to see the results. Thanks for starting this group - I have felt such comfort in reading the messages over the past few days.
