I don't think I've ever seen a StarBand that didn't have the full

coverage look. I think the openness of the DOCBand aids in allowing

more heat to escape from the top of the head and makes the band less

cumbersome. The " peninsulas " (great word for them) or caps of the

DOCBand are placed strategically depending on the shape of the head. If

the baby has right plagio, the caps will be on the right side, and vice

versa for left plagio. Some have 2 caps and some have 3. Brachy and

scapho DocBands will look different. That's my answer from a DOCBand

perspective. Hopefully someone can answer your question from the

STARBand side of things. I would definitely be interested to see some

photos of a STARBand that has a wider opening on top, just for my own

reference. Do they have any posted on a website you can share?
