Guest guest
Hey Everyone, Haven't posted in the group for a few weeks. So I thought it was about time I did. Just a quick history: My son, Spencer developed brachycephaly a few months ago, due to reflux, not liking tummy time aswell as having slight torticollis. We were seeing a paediatric physio and doing all the excercises aswell as counter positioning, but nothing seemed to work. So we were referred to orthotics. So since then we have been to orthotics and Spencer was casted and then we had to wait for his helmet to be made. So we recieve the helmet and Spencer starts wearing it immediatly. He has never had an issue with the helmet. After 3 or 4 days of getting used to the helmet we noticed a very red pressure sore on the side of Spencer's face. So we left the helmet off so the sore could clear up and until we saw orthotics. They took a bit of foam out from the side and everything has been fine since. Built him back up to wearing it for long periods and now Spencer is wearing the helmet to bed of a night. My only issue is that the helmet rides up at the back and then falls down towards his eyes, when he is lying on his back in bed, which is leaving a gap at the top on the inside. Make sense? I am forever re-adjusting the helmet and pushing it back down when I get him out of bed. I also find the helmet so bloody annoying when it comes to cuddling my baby while giving him his bottle, that eventually I end up pulling the helmet off for the bottle feed and putting it back on afterwards. I guess the really good thing is that the helmet has not affected his great sleeping of a night I think that the great routine I already had Spencer in has certainly helped. So Spencer is now 8 months old and has been wearing his helmet for about 3 weeks now and I can see his head starting to change shape already. Guest guest
Hi, I'm glad spencer is doing well. Sydney had brachy too, but her band didn't slip much. I also left it on for feeding, but i remember it used to dig into my arm where I rested her head - ouch. I'm glad you're seeing a change. Keep us posted on his progress. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > Hey Everyone, > Haven't posted in the group for a few weeks. So I thought it was about > time I did. Guest guest
My son's helmet also moved around over his eyes. Our ortho put a pad on the inside by his forehead and adjusted the size. It fits perfect now, he seems a lot more comfortable. Hello and Quick Update Hey Everyone,Haven't posted in the group for a few weeks. So I thought it was about time I did. Guest guest
During feedings I use a boppy pillow to support my sons head. We can still snuggle without the helmet digging into my arm :-) Re: Hello and Quick Update Hi,I'm glad spencer is doing well. Sydney had brachy too, but her banddidn't slip much.
