Guest guest
Marina,We experienced the same in the first week of Lyla's band. Hers actually turned into a bit of a raw spot on her head and we ended up leaving it off for a day and putiing 1% hydrocortisone ointment on it until it healed completely (per the advice of the ortho). I wasn't sure if it was raw - until I looked inside the band and there was a yellowish spot. Once it healed and her temperature adjusted, we've had no problems with it since. We also would take the band off and rub her head with a dry washcloth to dry/scratch it. Not sure if the clinic told you or not, but if you keep his socks and shoes off, that will keep him cooler too. Lyla sweats a lot at night so we've been putting her in pajamas without feet or just a onesie to help.Good luck!Sandymom to Lyla - 6 months - 3 weeks in Doc Bandand Owen - 4 years Advice on dealing with Heat Rash on forehead? Hi Everyone, We are on day 4 with our new helmet and I'm seeing what I think is a little bit of a rash along my son's forehead. Of course being summer it is hard for him not to feel warm and every 4 hours I take off the helmet for a 30 minute break and his poor little head is all sweaty. So far all I've been doing is washing his head down with a cool cloth and applying a good moisturizing cream. Any advice as to what else I should be doing? I don't want it to get so bad we can't put the helmet on for a few days thanks Marina
Guest guest
Try hydrocortisone cream instead of a moisturizing cream. My son had heat rash when he first got his band and that's what we used and it did the trick.
