We don't have our helmet yet, but my daughter has really flakey, itchy scalp. We use California Baby Super Sensitive shampoo now and also treat the really bad spots with hydrocortisone cream. I was wondering how the helmet is going to effect her poor little scalp. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I might try switching your shampoo and body wash to a very mild hypoallergenic variety. We did this when we were noticing some itching and it worked great. We ordered California Baby super sensitive shampoo and body wash. It did the trick. Very mild and organic and unsented. This was the answer for us and we are still using this particular baby line for sunblock, bubble bath , lotion etc. It is wonderful, Californiababy.com or diapers.com or a local buybuybaby or whole foods store. Try it in combo with the other suggestion with brushing the head and see what happens. Tammy Sabs NY

Hi,

My son had lots of itchy head problems. I called the ped. and she said to use ths selsum blue. And, use a lotion without fragrance. We also used the californai baby super sensitive- we bought that at target. The selsum worked pretty much instantly though. We did pick up some of the aveeno and it didn't work as well as the selsum did. We did pop on some hydrocortisone cream on the itchy spots.

Above is a link of products that aren't good for you to use on your child due to chemicals. We noticed that the california baby had been the best among all of the lotions and stuff. We did pick up some method baby wash yesterday from target- supposedly organic or whatever in a nice marshmallow smell. I'll let you know how it works. :)

Thanks!

Kim

Beth in MN,Our baby had cradle cap really bad and wearing her helmet made it itch worse. We started using aveno baby shampoo and giving her bathes twice a day when it was hot and pretty soon she stopped scratching. We also had them punch air holes in the back of her helmet to release the moisture and we cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and aveno shampoo really good at bath time. Good luck!
