Guest guest
Has anyone here with a mild to moderate asymmetry got resolved? The PT at CT, Paramus told me that banding will definitely help, even if it's a mild asymmetry, and that we'll definitely be able to see the result in a few weeks. I am just wondering if there is a real life example. Or if anyone has heard any successful stories. We have Bluecross Blueshield HMO Plan. According to Nouveau Prosthetics our insurance pre-approved of the device (STARband) and the treatment. They should cover it 100%. But there is no guarantee. It doesn't mean that they won't decline. The staff at Nouveau Prosthetics said that there were cases that the insurance company ask to see the measurement and then declined the claim. They told me that guideline for Aetna is that the difference between the Oblique Diagonal 1 and Oblique Diagonal 2 has to be more than 6mm. They don't know about Bluecross Blueshield. They could pay for it with no fuss. But if they decline, then we'll be responsible for the payment ($3600 x 2). Since it seems that no one here has had any bad experience with CT and DOC band so far, if we do decide to get my babies banded, we probably should go with DOC band. CT told us that there will be a twin discount ($2500 x 2) if we pay everything up front in full. Guest guest
, I would definately go to CT in NJ but I personally did not find to be as experienced as Purvi Patel and chose to only see Purvi. Purvi is the head ortho and has been doing banding for 2 years. When we went in October although nice was new and only banding around 6 months. ( was having to go to Purvi for advice and to learn. I feel everyone needs to learn somewhere but personally not on my kids head. For plagio and brach the orthos experience makes all the difference. I would definately make sure to go to Cranial. For that much money and the investment of the babies head shapes go to the expert Purvi. Several other mothers saw her and were very pleased. You just call and ask to be scheduled with Purvi for the casting and appointments. She was amazingly calm for my son during the casting and so professional and ready to answer all my questions. Even on the phone when we first got the band and I had questions she took the calls and advised me with professionalism. (You do not have to see the person that does the initial consult. Good luck and let us know how it works out. Guest guest
we had a very good experience, and ours was a less common headshape. we went to the CT in chicago (we live in Cincinnati - but in 2000 there were not any CTs in Ohio)my son had no "slope" -- his head jutted straight back (long and narrow/scaphocephalic head shape). A DOCband worn for 4 months corrected this, and gave him more width to his narrow face.a brief bio and a couple of pix are here http://www.cappskids.org/CAPPSPlagioKidQuinn.htmmom to Quinn, born 11/99, DOCband grad 10/00>------- Original Message ------->From : juliapianony[mailto:juliapianony@...]>Sent : 6/3/2008 2:31:23 PM>To : Plagiocephaly >Cc : >Subject : RE: Re: Anyone had any bad experience with Cranial Tech and DOC ba nd?>>Has anyone here with a mild to moderate asymmetry got resolved? The PT at CT, Paramus told me that banding will definitelyhelp, even if it's a mild asymmetry, and that we'll definitely be ableto see the result in a few weeks. Guest guest
, If you do decide to band with DOC, I'll chime in and say, I have been having a wonderful experience with Paramus CT. Needless to say, The Christmas Tree Shop, Trader Joes and a bunch more great shopping! Good luck with everything! 5 1/2 months old - almost 3 weeks in DOC Band! Guest guest
Honestly, it all depends on the ortho. Both bands give the same results. Good luck! Guest guest
Few days after we went to CT, their insurance expert called me back and told me that our insurance company requires us to go to an in network provider. If there is none within 60 miles of where we live, then we can go to CT in Paramus for treatment. We found out that Nouveau Prosthetics is in our network. We called them up. Nouveau Prosthetics contacted our insurance company (BCBS) and told us that the cost of STARband and treatment would be covered 100%. Nouveau Prosthetics gave us a code. We called our insurance company to double check with them. The representative reassured us that it'll be covered 100%. However, during our first appointment with Nouveau Prosthetics, they told us that even though our insurance pre-approved the device and treatment, it doesn't necessarily guarantee payment. For any reason our insurance company shall decline the payment or pay only certain percentage of it, we would be responsible to pay the co-pay or the full amount. So my understanding is that if we go to Nouveau Prosthetics and get the STARband, there is a big chance that our insurance would cover it; if we go to CT, we'll have to pay first to start the treatment, and most likely we would not be able to get any money back from our insurance company.
