Guest guest
We are getting our helmet from Starband in Columbia on Friday 9/19. Was your Ortho? Did everything go well? Sounds like you had a positive experience. I am just nervous and was wondering how the beginning of you process went w/ the band. Thanks! > > We went to the STAR Cranial Center in Columbia, MD on Tuesday and > after 15 weeks of wearing the helmet, Gavin graduated!!! Guest guest
Congratulations . I'm replying to your message since you said that you are willing to help someone who is just starting out...so I thought I would respond. I just found out about my son Merricks flat spot this week when we went to the pediatrician...I just hadn't seen it. We then were refered to Cranial Technologies and we went there on Friday, and I was shocked and just really emotional about everything that I learned. Merrick is 12-weeks old, and they said that he has the highend of moderate plagiocephaly..I didn't get any numbers though and now that I am reading through the boards I see that I should call to get them. I think I am most freaked out about when they showed me that his ears are different heights and one eye is slightly open more. Did Gavin have any of that? I was also super freaked out that even after treatment all might not be completely 'fixed.' We are currently doing agressivie repositioning and that seems to be working...along with his neck stretches. They want to see a 50% improvement when we return in four weeks if we are to continue to reposition as our stratagy. I just began reading through all the messages on here, and I am really interested in hearing from anyone who repositioning might have worked for. Also interested in how you decided to do banding with Gavin, even when you found this all out early. Would love to hear from anyone. It's so great that this support is out there, because this has been an extremely difficult time for us...if only we would have known . > > We went to the STAR Cranial Center in Columbia, MD on Tuesday and > after 15 weeks of wearing the helmet, Gavin graduated!!! Guest guest
Cary-- Congrats on little Ben's graduation from the band! And he's going to be so cute in his little glasses. I know what you mean about having to come to terms with not having perfection. I know for myself I just wanted 'better' when I started out, but then after staring at his head so much, I started getting picky. Our ortho always pointed out that many people have some asymatry. And that for 'perfect' to even be an option, we would have to look at genetics and what our heads are like, etc. So, that's interesting that you noticed that about your dad. PS--if you want to make yourself feel better, just look closely when watching Hollywood awards shows...you can find a few people here and there that may not be perfect. I'm just saying.....
