If you are near a cranial Tech office I would have your son go in for a free consult. They will do measurments and tell you honestly how they feel about banding or not for your grandchild. You will never feel presured at cranial tech. They just give you the info and let you talk it over and talk to your physician. If they do decide to go for it they will need a script from the doctor and it will cost around 3000 dollars. Some of which insurance may cover the rest may need to be covered by grandma!

Good luck and tell your son it never hurts to go in for the consult, no pressure and friendly people. You will also meet other parents in the waiting room with kids that are in helmets, you can chit chat about the process and what to expect. Tammy

Hi,he definitely has brachy, with some extra height. The shot that ismissing it a bird's eye view of his head. This is usually the best forshowing asymmetry & /or extra width (which is common with brachy). Thecephalic index tells the severity of brachy. This measurement is the(width of the head)/(length of head). Where width is side to side atthe widest part, and length is front to back. Normal is about 80%, butI suspect your grandson is much higher. Can you post a photo like that?Either way I think he needs a band, but if the head already has a lotof extra width I would push for banding sooner.Thanks. -christinesydney 2 yrs starband grad>> I've just posted photos of my grandson in the "H" album.
