Debi,

One thing that is known about LDN and MS is when you start LDN you can go through a stage where old symptoms you have had in the past come back. People have noticed they even have appeard in the same exact order they may have appeared years ago. This time the same symptoms don't seem to last near as long as they did the first time when you had them.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense at all.

-- [low dose naltrexone] My Leg! and LDN

I have been on LDN for about 4 1/2 weeks now.. So far, freaky dreams and weird smells, but they seem to be going away. I am sleeping less though..good thing? dunno, but I do have more energy. However, the pain in my leg is back along with it being numb-ish. Feels heavy. When I started the LDN, that went away and I was oh so happy, but now its back. I had an IVIG treatment back in October. I think that it helped with my leg and the tingling I had in my hands and legs. The tingling in my hands stopped, but I still have it in my legs, but not as intense. They only tingle if I walk for a long period of time. Like through the mall or on my treadmill, which is usually 10-20 minutes. Does anyone have the heavy leg feeling and what do you do?ThanksDebi

Actually, now that you say that, I remember reading about old symptoms popping up. However, this isn't an old symptom, if that makes sense.. See I had this symptom since April. It went away, came back, went away, came back.. so would that be considered an old symptom? and Iselborn <camjak@...> wrote: Debi, One thing

I've been on LDN for MS for two months -- the first month at 2.5mg, and the second month at 3.5mg. I felt great for the first month on 2.5, and great for two weeks on 3.5. For the last two weeks old symptoms have returned (leg weakness, stiffness in legs and neck, numbness/tingling in one arm), which prompts some questions for all you wise and experienced "vererans":

1. How long will these old symptoms continue to pop up? Will they settle back down? It would be nice to get to a relatively stable place without surprises popping up.

2. What signs of symptoms tell you that the dose is too high?

Any advice would be appreciated. Happy Holidays to all!

Patty

would come and go would be an old symptom.

Patty---I found that 3.0 is MY dose. I tried 4.5 and then 3.5 and felt miserable. When I returned to 3.0 each time I felt great again. So I suggest you give 3.0 a chance; I believe it is the dose that Dr. Bihari says many MS patients do well on.

I also had to change the filler in my capsules. I now use lactose and have no stomach trouble anymore.

I would also like to say that my neuro does not even send me for MRIs. They told me that if you are feeling good and if you are stable, the MRIs don't mean much. Likewise, if you are progressing, the fact that your MRI shows no changes is meaningless. So they used the MRI to help diagnose the MS, but never sent me for another one.

Joyce--8 months on LDN 3.0

Reverse Order! All my SX reappeared in reverse... 2002, 2001, 2000, 1998, 1997... it didn't really hit me until after my 2000 and before the 1998, my double hernias were HURTING me for a few days. I got THEM in 1999!!! Now what does that have to do with anything? The body remembers events like we remember ours?

Hi everyone,

Ya know, I don’t have MS. I’m taking ldn for hormonal

problems and hashimoto’s thyroiditis (autoimmune disease). However, I’ve had a past history of

having carpal tunnel in both hands.

Well, I’ve been on ldn 1.5mg to 2 weeks and just increased the

dose yesterday (Wednesday), but my carpal tunnel symptoms have been returning

since the weekend. I was going to

start a new email asking if this has been happening to others, but it sounds

like this leg numbing and some other people have been replying to this email

also mentioning tingling and numbing of the hands or arms. Now, my thinking was that if the ldn can

cause constipation via slowing down the digestion process, maybe it is also

slowing down the circulatory system and thus for carpal tunnel the fluids are

building in that narrow opening again with me. I do know that if one takes 250mg of Vit.

B6 and wear the wrist braces at night, the symptoms can completely go away

within 3 months without surgery or physical therapy. Maybe for others who are experiencing

numbness elsewhere, maybe the same protocol can be applied (Vit. B6 and B12 are

both very healthy for nerve function).

I would recommend taking them both together, and possibly finding a

B-complex with extra B6. There is

one at www.emersonecologics.com.

I think it’s called B-Complex

with high B6, or something like that and the B6 is at 250mg per capsule. Anyone else have any comments?

past history... may not matter if it's ms, the body has 'insult memory' and remembers your past medical issues just like we remember new year's eve's. :)

perhaps your body is now 'checking out the area' like it did with my hernias in the middle of my reversal of symptoms back from 2002 to 1997. If the pains go away in a few days, you may rarely, if ever, feel the pain again, if it's healed.

My hernias haven't bothered me since that episode, in between my revisit of 2000 and 1998 symptoms. I got the hernias in Oct 99.

When I had carpal tunnel back in 1991 I mentioned it to my new chiropractors, at the time, they worked on my wrists for about 3 weeks and my wrists felt different. Haven't had an attack since then. In 2002 when they were running tests before my MRI's, they told me my carpal tunnel was 100% healed. That was one of the "good news"'s from the EMG testing. The "bad news" was they had no idea what was wrong and referred me elsewhere.

Patty, I've been on LDN 4.5mg for RRMS since Sept29th. I've never gone with a lower dose. My lower back/left hip pain and stiff left leg have pretty much gone away. However, they do return when I lift alot of weights or run on a trend mill or simply get alot of physical exercise. Can't say for sure if it's the LDN or just a part of the remittance process. My understanding of LDN is not so much symtoms going away, but they don't get worse. If this is true, which I'm hoping for, a little stiffness in the left leg/back every once in a while is do able.HollyOak7@... wrote: I've been on LDN for MS for two months -- the first month at 2.5mg, and the second month at 3.5mg. Being a therapist, I know all about the CTS syndrome. Now you are exactly right about the B6 and night splints. Very important. Also, you can get a tube sock and fill it with rice. You stick it in the microwave and use the heat to accelerate the healing. Ialso use a TENS unit when it bothers me. There are herbal patches you can get "Wu Yang Brand" that are very effective at reducing pain anywhere. You must be careful when you take them off as they can irritate your skin. They also have a highly Chinese medicinal smell but it is good stuff-real pure. Stretch those fingers, rotate the wrist and elongate the palm for a few minutes twice a day. Best, Kathy
