The half life of ALA is maybe close to 30 min. It is quickly

converted by the body to DHLA. It is the DHLA that does the chelating

and has the half life close to 3 h. The half life of DHLA is what is

important to people who are chelating with ALA. In the chelation

groups we simplify things and say that we need to take ALA at 3 h

intervals in order to keep blood levels of ALA constant, when

technically what would be more correct would be to say in order to

keep blood levels of DHLA constant.
