Re: need direction- after doc appt

Hi Joy,

Many of us are in the same boat -- expecting progress and now

questioning the basic diagnosis when progress doesn't come according

to our schedule.

It's right and prudent to question, of course, because it would be

unfortunate -- the understatement of the day -- to bark up the wrong

tree for 3-4 years only to find out something else was going on.

That said, if you're like me and and many others who have spent

countless years feeling ill, not knowing why, visiting 25+ doctors (I

think and I are about tied at this point), and trying countless

treatments to no effect, it's only natural to think that " this "

(mercury toxicity) is just another one of those possible diagnoses and

treatment paths that will just fall by the wayside, another dead end.

I sure hope for myself and many of us that it isn't.

But at this point, since I have seen so many doctors, explored so many

tests/diagnoses, and tried so many therapies, the fact that it takes

many months or even several years to fully detox and heal (instead of

a quick turnaround by simply popping some kind of new pill or

supplement) makes it actually MORE believable to me that something so

insidious, so deeply buried under the surface like heavy metal

toxicity, really is at the root of my mysterious health decline.

The other thing keeping me going is my hair test results. I almost

didn't have this test run earlier this year, since I was so convinced

already that mercury toxicity was my problem. But this group

convinced me to run it, and sure enough, it showed significant

deranged mineral transport. After six months of chelation, I ran the

test again, and it still shows significant DMT. No wonder I still

feel like crap (and then some, though stopping DMPS a few days ago has

settled things down a bit).

I believe you said that you were hesitant to have a hair test run,

because you think it would be meaningless since you've been

supplementing so much. I don't think that's true. Yes, supplementing

can make a hair test look better than it really would be otherwise,

but I think in many cases it will still show DMT. For my first hair

test, I had been doing some supplementation, and it showed severely

DMT. I was doing a ton of Cutler-based supplementation before my

second test, which also showed DMT.

I suggest having the hair test done. All considering, it's a fairly

inexpensive way to get a potentially very useful data point. And it

sounds like you need some more data since you're trying to decide what

direction to head.

Of course, no test is perfect, and even a hair test that does not show

DMT does not rule out mercury toxicity. In fact, I just learned on

this forum that the hair test only reflects " body mercury " , as opposed

to brain/organ mercury. So a " negative hair test " may just mean that

the only mercury left is very deeply stored, which may be the case for

you since your exposure was so long ago.
