Anybody anywhere near Austin, TX? This may be a good deal.

I received an e-mail announcement from Center for a medical, nutritional

study of children with ASD for a small co-pay.

The website for this organization is www.johnson-center.org.

Here is what the announcement said:

September 10, 2012

Over two years ago, we launched a program to help families access

appropriate, multi-disciplinary care for their child with autism regardless of

their financial situation. The Bright Eyes Program has provided support and care

for many families from all across the country, and has been a great success. We

have established wonderful relationships with the participants in this project,

and we have seen many children flourish as a result of their participation.

We are excited to announce we are once again opening enrollment for 50

families affected by an autism spectrum disorder. Participants in the Bright

Eyes Program will receive six months of fully supported medical, dietetic, and

nutritional care, along with appropriate diagnostics, family support, and parent

training. Services will be provided by a collaborative team made up of a

Certified Clinical Nutritionist, a Registered Dietitian, a Physician, a

Registered Nurse, a Psychologist, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, a

Certified Child Life Specialist, and additional support staff. Over the course

of six months, selected participants will have frequent evaluations and

assessments, and will receive a complete plan of care with the support necessary

to successfully implement appropriate intervention and seek appropriate

services.

We recognize that finances are often the obstacle to securing appropriate

care, and we have seen with the first phase of this project that with support

and financial assistance, motivated families can access otherwise out-of-reach

services such that they can maximize their child's potential and address

significant health issues that often go untreated. Participants in this program

are able to secure services with nothing more than a small monthly co-pay,

ensuring that they don't have to cut corners on the treatment they are providing

to their child.

Families must meet program criteria to apply, including:

• Child must be between the ages of 18 months and 13 years old

• Child must have a confirmed ASD diagnosis

• Family must meet all criteria and be willing to commit to specific program

requirements

• Be willing to travel to Austin for one initial visit (our staff may be able to

help with travel programs if this is a barrier to participation)

The team at The Center is excited about the opportunity to continue

to offer meaningful and effective treatment for children with ASD. To request an

application please email intake@... or call our office at

.
