Guest guest
Hello All, What is your take on the Verbal Behavior Therapy. My private speech therapist suggested this for my son who is non-verbal (only sounds he makes is MMM and AAHH). I thought this was suppossed to be for kids on the spectrum. I really don't know maybe he is on the spectrum. I took him to a developmental pediatrician who said he did not appear to be on the spectrum. I still wonder though only because of his lack of wanting to attempt at any other sounds. He gets very frustrated when pushed to try a sound. He is social, loves to play with kids, has no stimming or repetitive actions. He just does not speak..... It is so hard to take him to therapy when I know he is so frustrated and won't attempt or maybe I should say can't attempt. He also of course has obvious oral apraxia. Have any of you tried this with your child? My ST said that the EI and his MA will pay for this and now is a good time to put it in place. My son is 2.7 and will transition to IU in December. --------------------------------- Be a better Heartthrob. Get better relationship answers from someone who knows.
