Hi,

My son has been diagnosed a month ago with appraxia. He has also been

diagnosed in September with PDD-NOS, has overall motor planning

problems, low muscle tone and sensory issues. All his therapist and

the psychologist agree that in September (he'll be 3 in few months) we

should send him to a good full time language rich special ed

preschool. We live on Long Island in Nassau County. I visited few

schools already and most of hem claim they are language based

preschools. When I ask what it means some can answer others not.

Anyway can anyone recommend a good preschool on Long Island for kids

with appraxia?

Thanks,

Nati

My niece attended SLCD (School for Language and Communication

Disorders), and it's fantastic. She doesn't have apraxia, but my

sister said that there are definitely kids with apraxia there. If

you want to email me offline with specific school names, I can get

the rundown from my sister. She is well-versed in this and and is

now active in the leadership of the special education group in her

public school.

in NJ

P.S. I think the SLCD is in Glen Cove. It's definitely Nassau

County. My nieces live in Manhasset.
