Guest guest
Hi there. My 3 year old isn't talking. He is trying, but only either says the beginning or ending sound of words. He is into one word lables and requests right now. No 2 words combos yet. The only thing we can understand is bye, go, mama, dada. He has some " made up words " for things too, that sound nothing like the real word. We have seen 4 speech therapists, a pediatric neurologist and a DAN dr. No one seems to be able to tell us if he is apraxic or not. His receptive language is better than his expressvie, but certainly not where it should be for his age. He has a few autistic symptoms, but not many. In fact, the ped. neurologist didn't want to diagnose him yet, as he has made so much progress in the last year, and his main thing right now seems to be language and a few sensory issues, but nothing major. We did the French Porphyrins Test and he is showing HUGE amounts of mercury and lead. Esp. lead! We did an EDTA challenge and pulled gobs and gobs of lead from him. He hasn't responded to speech therapy at all. We have been doing ABA even though he doesn't have a diagnosis, but becuase he has some autistic symtoms. He has really learned a lot from that, but nothing from the speech therapists in the past year. I was wondering if lead can cause apraxia, and if getting it out of him would solve the problem. Guest guest
Lead can be related to speech stuff. Mercury too I think but others can tell you that answer. The improvements you describe and your proactivity rock. I would not search for a label so much as a cause. There are mainstream labs in the files here that can tell you about system function. It is not good enough to know it is lead. You need to know what the metals, the allergies (if there are any true allergies or if sensitivities sprang up from metal or other damage) and gut damage (genetic, bacterial, viral, allergy, metal damage, etc). Has the DAN not reviewed this in detail? If not ask more questions or find a new doc. There is an overall system function test the DANs use. Metramalox???Janice and one other person on this board have done it that I know of. Pricey but something to consider. Ken Bock' 4As book is a great read for parents of kids like yours and mine who don't get labeled easily but something is up. Helps you see where the kid fits in both behavior and biomedwise. Changing the course of autism gives you a layperson's understanding of system function. Feast without yeast helps you with diet. There is no sense in addressing metal without addressing diet or you are recycling a problem. Lastly, look into environmental for the same reason..not to recycle problems. For starters, Reverse osmosis filter, $300 from Costco, 5 step model for drinking and cooking water and Whole House filter for shower and bathing. Change Cookware. Glass visionware from ebay is a cheap fix but the fry pans don't work on gas stoves. Another option is Mercola's cookware set. Air purifier in bedroom. Organic cotton sleepwear from Hannah . If too pricey then use cotton for clothes and sleepwear and wash with 7th generation no chemical detergent and vinegar (not too much vinegar and make sure it rinses out or you will create skin rash). You are washing out the pesticides on nonorganic fabrics used to protect them in transit. Remove all fleece pjs and blankets. Cotton is their friend and removing toxins where they sleep is so important. No light up sneakers. The Green Baby is a good book to help you with this stuff. Also, Nickerson on this board knows all of this way better than me. Therapywise consider nacd.org. Look at the videos...so much hope. This thing that hurts our kids requires a three prong approach: medical, nutrition, and environment. You can choose to ignore a prong but problems will be recycled. It is that simple. You are not looking to eliminate all toxins...unrealistic but you are looking to reduce toxic load to allow their bodies to recover. If I sound crazy, I think I was once...when I was in denial. I now choose to believe I am not crazy but crazy things have happened to me and my family. I can live through that once but not twice so I am now acting. Just the way it is. I am not a doc, a granola head or a nut. I am a mom on a mission though. If you have questions as to the whys on any of the above I'll be happy to tell what I know. > > Hi there. Guest guest
Cleaning things out may help but it must be done safely. There are many things that can go wrong. In my fluoride kids...as I understand it antibacterial plus fluoride = dioxin...no thanks. So that means I have to be careful of what drugs and nutraceuticals are prescribed for their treatment. I want my kid here on Earth with me. That is more important than addressing anything else. I cannot overemphasize the importance of researching in this battle to help our children. > > > In a message dated 2/5/2008 6:57:18 P.M. Guest guest
I forgot the fourth prong...therapy to seal the gains you see by the rest. > > > > Hi there. My 3 year old isn't talking.
