Guest guest
Hi : I was giving Adam (now 3 and 42 lbs.) 2 ProEFA and 1-2 ProEPA per day. This began last August, and within a week to 2 weeks, he was using new sounds and many new approximations for words. His progress continued, and in October we began intensive speech therapy with an experienced SLP 2 hours per week. By mid January, Adam had about 100 words... We saw the DAN! January 20th, and he changed the fish oil to 2 ProEPA and 2 DHA. He said kids seem to do better with greater DHA, and adults do better with greater EPA. He wanted Adam to have more DHA, although I realize this change cut out any omega 6 supplementation. I do feel we are at a standstill, but I am sure plateaus happen. What do you think of this change? We will bo gack next month. We did bloodtesting for fatty acid profile, urine testing (for casein/gluten allergies) , and stool testing (for bacteria/yeast/etc.) We will discuss these results next month. When I told the DAN how much success we had within a week of starting the fish oil, he immediately suggested the fatty acid profile testing...perhaps this will help provide some information about an appropriate dosage of the fish oil. Holly Holly ....this information is in direct conflict with some of the largest studies in pediatrics with fish oils done http://www.durhamtrial.org EPA is much more important than DHA and has always been for those of us like you who try both. Dr. said the US is about 5 years behind the UK where they now know how much more important EPA is while we still think it's the DHA. what makes your dan person an expert -no disrespect but I wouldn't change my formula for anyone but. I did raise my children's EPA years ago after speaking with Dr. R. The formula she's linked to in research is EyeQ -but here's another one that talks about her work for EPA (in children) http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/articles/intelligenceandmemory/omega\ _three.shtml In fact our original feedback was basically higher DHA to higher EPA and many saw no changes on the DHA -and didn't believe the ProEFA would work either until they tried it. Amazing feedback from just about every single person. Blood testing has not proven to be an accurate way of knowing and we are looking for what is crossing the blood brain barrier. I'd like to discuss this further in the group--- =====
