Guest guest
Hi, My daughter has been seeing a level 3 PROMPT speech therapist for about 2 months now, and I have mixed feelings. The therapist wants me to use the manual touch techniuqe on my daughter at home, which I am fine with, but apparently there is a certain way to postion your hands and fingers and the wrong position can send the wrong message for sounds to make and I am not comfortable doing this at home, even though she had me practice on her. a few mins of practice doesn't mean I know what I am doing at home the next day. My husband feels that he hasn't seen any progress with our daughter, so for those of you who chose PROMPT as the speech technique, I am wondering how long did it take before your child showed real progress (i.e. making sounds or words on his/her own etc). ANy of you switched to Kaufman? Anyone with an opinion on why you liked one or the other, how your child responded etc etc. I just don't want to switch my daughter because of my own issues but I am concerned about the expectation of me using the manual manipulation at home daily and that I will do it wrong and harm my child. THank you in advance for your time and thoughts. By the way, she is on fish oil and I am about to start vitamin E but I believe she is not one of those who are major responders to fish oil, but I will start the vitamin e as well and see if that makes a difference.
