Guest guest
We have been rotating new cooking oils after reading more nutritional info. from the Weston Price Foundation on the importance of using the right fats. It said that canola and sunflower oil, in the forms we get them, are bad and can become toxins in the body when cooked and eaten. Since those were the ones I was using I switched to cocumut oil and sesame seed oil. I am not sure if it was a case of too swift of a switch, too mich too soon, or what but son has bumps on his face. Not hives and not itchy but bumps. We switched back to olive oil and some more came out overnight but that was after a bath with olive oil soap which brings these things out. I am going back to old oils and old soap to level him out but was wondering if anyone ever heard of this. I am not sure it is a true allergic reaction so much as a detox thing but I am not sure it matters as it needs mnitoring and swift action either way. Guest guest
We've never had that reaction here. I use mostly canola and olive oil here, with a little sesame oil thrown in occasionally for Asian dishes. There is probably some sunflower oil in the processed stuff, too, and of course the ubiquitous soybean oil. Do you have a link about canola and sunflower oils? Does this problem include non-GMO canola oil? On Mercola.com, canola is on the list of modified foods, and he recommends using only non-GMO products when possible. As always, the reaction could be a coincidence. Could be a virus or something else. My third gets one red pimple when he's getting a tooth! (The tooth pimple recently became infected and turned into a boil, which required a course of antibiotics. Lovely. I am never going to get a Christmas card picture.) in NJ > > We have been rotating new cooking oils after reading more nutritional > info. from the Weston Price Foundation on the importance of using the > right fats. Guest guest
Well, I think we can rule out the oils. The only thing new for him was the oils but I was cooking broccoli in them. We tested the oils in isolation...no new bumps and the ones he had faded in fact. We are testing broccoli. If it is broccoli we won't be super shocked. Broccoli is a calcium source and calcium pulls fluoride...could be part of that. We shall see. I doubt we will know for sure. If it is the broccoli we will just pursue moderation. The good news is he has finally leveled out and become more himself again. I have those hair tests sitting in my livingroom, along with the other DAN tests I am too chicken to run. I admire your ability to push forward. I am so paralyzed lately! > > Liz, > > Charlie has bumps on his cheeks. They come and go. Guest guest
If you read my posts you can tell we have had a series of strange reactions in this house. At one point I seriously wondered if he was getting the chicken pox. He is happy and pleasant but these things still alarm me. A kid on the next street gets these wierd things like this near his eye and the infectious disease dr. who doubles as our allergist prescribes an antiviral for them, the same antiviral given to me when I was pregnant with chicken pox. That kid got the same vaccines at the same old pediatrician who we all wonder if she had old stuff so then I think measles but I doubt it...more like pox. On his face, and one upper thigh and buttocks. If you type in good fats on Mercola's site the article and some of Mercola's thoughts on these oils should be on there. The gyst, if I recall, was that canola and olive oil (the two I had been using) become toxic when heated. So hard to follow these rules...like one bad game of hokey pokey meets musical chairs, the music stopped and you realize all your efforts aimed at helping your kid hurt them yet again. Oh I hate that! > > > > We have been rotating new cooking oils after reading more > nutritional > > info. from the Weston Price Foundation on the importance of using > the > > right fats. Guest guest
Liz, When I get a second in a day or so, I will email you and everyone else a detailed evaulation of our DAN! appt. The good news is that the right kidney has gone from a 78 to a 48. 50 is normal! Yeast, the same... significantly reduced. So our detox worked!! Which is why we saw such an increase in speech. Stopped the detox and moving toward DMZ for now. It opens the pathways for speech. Starting it slowly and giving with B6. DMZ causes hyperactivity and B6 is the calming thing. We are still doing the fish oil, Vit E, Phosphaline, IGG, Zinc. We will continue to detox again next month per the hair test. Lets keep moving forward together! You can do it. Take a break, enjoy your kids and the holidays. Thats my motto. Then back at it! Guest guest
Coconut oil is supposed to be the cooking oil. Olive oil as sald dressing.
Guest guest
Bumps or pimples? I have seen bumps before, at the beginning of detox when we added calcium. One each in both kids. When we added coconut oil I got a pock that was itchy, very much like a chicken pock on my hand. What has now is more like pimples. I think it is a detox thing. I am trying not to over do anything as a result. Aside from his face he has one on the tush and another on his upper thigh. They do not itch and are fading despite the offenders remaining in diet so I think it is detox and a matter of moderation. He is happy and talking more though not quite at the level he was on fish oil and E but the nose bleeds stopped. Not trashing fish oil and E here but remember, my kid, if he is apraxic, is mild as he could imitate, and allergy and malabsorption are a huge part of our deal. I think there is a place for fish oil in him. E is questionable for him at this point and I can't do either without checking platelet levels and coagulation. It is a tough spot to be in because E alone did great things but I have to be safe. I am banking on the reversible stuff found in ph. > > Liz, > > Charlie has bumps on his cheeks. They come and go.
