Guest guest
This morning at 8:05am the secretary from my 4 1/2yos school called and said he didn't have all his immunizations. I know this. My son is on a very delayed schedule where his shots are separated like the MMR is given as three shots instead of one combined one. She said technically he could not come to school. She said his doctor's temporary medical exemption wasn't a good enough reason!?! (I always thought a medical exemption was the gold standard for exemptions unlike religious or philosophical exemptions. My state does not have the latter exemption.) She said he needed a permanent medical exemption but my doctor cannot pin point if his vaccinations have caused his speech issues so she doesn't feel comfortable giving one. (For the record it's not just signing a paper but a long process in my state.) My son only had 4 shots in 4 1/2 years. I do not think they caused his problems. He didn't get his first one until he was 9 mos old and then it was a single one. Why can't the schools accept true diversity? My son is getting vaccinations just not the way they prefer it be done. My son goes back in 3 mos for another immunization and again 3 mos after that. School will be over and he still wouldn't have them all. When I got to school I withdrew my 4 1/2yo. My oldest two attended public school for 11 days. My youngest attended for 3 hours. My youngest dd has never attended public school. It seems the public schools I have had experience with just cannot meet my children's needs. I read about great schools all the time but that has not been my personal experience. I am open-minded enough to try the public schools even though we are homeschoolers. This just cements my feelings that public school is not for my children.
