Why both ProEFA and ProEPA?

Hi - Like many people I am new to this. My 16 month has no specific

diagnosis, but at her EI evaluation, she qualified for therapy due to

her communication delays. I suspect apraxia as she has many of the

symptoms described by parents of children on this site: no words,

says " mamamama " as her " distress " call, but has hit or been early for

most other developmental milestones. She does have a feeding

issue, " failure to advance texture " , meaning she only wants pureed

food, and doesn't properly chew table food. The feeding specialist says

that this is in isolation of her speech delays.

Her ST starts next week and I am also going to start the fish oils. My

question: why ProEPA in additin to ProEPA? From what I have read,

ProEFA contains EPA. Is it just not high enough dose?

I have also read about vit E (is this the same as gamma tocpherol?) on

this site. What have your experiences been? Do I start her on all three

at the same time? Can I get vit E in a liquid form? And her ped

prescribed a multi-vitamin. Do I give additional vit E on top of this?

Thanks for all the informative post - it's been so educating. What did

parents do become the internet?

Hi -

I'm new to this group as well. However, I've been doing lots of

supplementation and dieting with my 2 year old son over the last 6

months. I'm not really familiar with the supplements you mentioned

below (although I've just ordered Pro-EFA since I've heard so many

good things about it). However, I would suggest starting one

supplement at a time.. Otherwise, you get yourself in to a situation

where you aren't sure what is working and afraid to take away

something in case that might be the supplement providing all the

benefits.

When we first started biomed 6 months ago, our son's doctor

recommended the GFCF diet and about 8 supplements. We started the

diet and supplementation at the same time. Then every other month

when we would visit the doctor she would add more supplements. Our

son is doing great. However, we are now in the process of trying to

figure out what supps/diets are needed and what are not needed. Keep

in mind every child is unique and some respond to one thing and not

the other.

Also, I highly recommend the Baby Babble video and the Baby Bumble

Bee videos!
