University programs can be great, and the price is definitely right.

I assume that they will allow you to observe each session, and I

highly recommend that you do so. Since these are students doing

therapy, the quality can be wildly different depending on who you

get. If your student seems to be doing a poor job, speak up

immediately to the supervising professor and get the therapy back on

track. In addition to helping your child, you will be helping

everybody who's ever been stuck with an SLP that just never learned

to do it right.

I agree - some students are excellent and work hard but others are

just muddling through. Ultimately they are all supervised by

experianced SLP's but it is not 100% of the time. Good luck!

Not , but there is a program at The College of New Jersey

(formerly Trenton State) in Ewing, NJ. It was even cheaper, if I am

recalling correctly, but our SLP-in-training just didn't have the right

plan for . Still, it's good to try every option, especially

when insurance coverage, EI, schools, etc. may not be able to provide

enough therapy. I bet there are other NJ options as well -- this state

is chock-full of colleges.
