Guest guest
Hello, I have over the past month and a half introduced Biomed, to my son, age 4.5, with some excellent results. His therapist sees him as apraxic, his pre-k has him in an autism class due to the smaller sized but tested him and said he is not autistic they just dont know now, and with the introduction of the biomeds they now are even more confused and his school Pychologist just say he may be mildly retarded. He has delayed speech, and very short memory, he can sometimes identify images and photos but that is like I mentioned sometimes. he knows his name, will tell you if he is happy or sad, tell you his age, and has begun to spell out his name. He will count on his finger, and knows all the elmo and most children songs. Ok that is the intro to Charlie, but the main point is Charlies dad also had similar issues, except he did not speak until he was around age 4 at all. My husband is 6'8 my son is only 4 but almost 4 feet already doctors say he will surpass his dad in height for sure, he has to be at least 90+lbs already. I am looking at dosage issues, how much of what should I be giving him. I want to talk to parent out there and find out exactly what Bio-meds they are giving their kids and the amounts. My son is potty trained he can ride a bike, roller skate, according to the school his strength is his independence in wanting to do for himself. I want to give him the best chance I can. They say speech will come, yes I believe that but I also know that the med do have a positive effect and I want to do more and make sure I am doing it right. Your advice has served me well so I am looking for any and all opinions.
Guest guest
Since you are already introducing diet stuff for the supplementation part of this I would consider kellydorfman.com. Dr. Megson, a DAN in your area, can help you with the metals testing if you want to rule something in or out. You and I have talked offline as well. Something in your story brings up lead concerns for me but I can't say that with any degree of credibillty other than my gut so you obviously need testing if that is a concern of yours. Is the difference in your son and husband that your husband never spoke and then did at 4 versus your son's delayed sppecch PLUS memory stuff? I think that is significant if your husband did not have the memory stuff and if his speech delay was different. It may speak to some genetic thing or a childhood environmental thing in your husband and a more pronounced environmental thing for your child. Just thoughts, no facts. I hope you get some good answers. I am thrilled to hear of your sweet boy's progress:) > > Hello, > I have over the past month and a half introduced Biomed, to my son, > age 4.5, with some excellent results. Guest guest
At this young age, I would take all cognitive assessments with a grain of salt. All skills are linked, so if you are communication impaired or have processing deficits, you can appear to have a low IQ but in fact be average or better. My son is quite large, but not nearly as big as yours -- 90 lbs! -- but the dosing is imprecise anyway. You are looking for the appropriate therapeutic dose for your child, which is based on need as much as age or size. There are people here using up to 9 adult fish oil capsules (2:1 ratio of EFA:EPA usually) safely and effectively. That dose was too high for us (we got hyperactivity and related naughtiness). Slowly increase the dose until you are no longer seeing positive signs OR any negative effects last for longer than a week or two. With other supplements, safety may require lower doses unless you have bloodwork done. You don't want to overdo it on fat soluble vitamins like vitamin E unless your body really needs it. As I think Liz mentioned, if you can find a good DAN doctor near you, that is the best way to get good biomed advice based on lab tests. And as you have probably noticed during your lurking, a number of us have been introduced to the NACD thanks to Janice. I take one of my sons there now, and I will be taking my 17 month old in February, as he appears to be very communication delayed with some other minor delays as well. Also, for all people posting questions: to get lots of great advice, post questions on specific topics. I have found that you get more responses that way. A lot of people feel overwhelmed by a less specific " need advice " post. Just my two cents... Good luck! It sounds like your son is making progress already.
