Adventures in Calcium Magnesium

I started giving my kids a calmag supplement after three months GFCFSF,

nearly 3 months off the bad water. As always, when I started them on it

I took it too. I gave it to them because I was told that on such an

extreme diet you must do so as they need the calcium they lost with

milk. I was further worried that neither got enough from milk because:

1) it only has 10% RDA but then again they did consume it in mass quantities

2) Daughter, with solid bones and who is gifted balance and

movement-wise was D deficient. That made me wonder if the solid bones

were filled with fluoride since most of whatever was trapped in her

seemed not to be in her head as she is pretty bright but has senior

moments and while her speech is fabuluos as is her vocabulary she is not

a big conversationalist (hmmm can't hold a thought?)

3) Son always had crackly bones and had obvious neuro stuff

4) Calcium pulls out fluoride. Both kids at one time had the white spot

on tooth indicative of fluorosis and both had blue incidents consistent

with mild lead poisoning yet they were cleared and I was told " benign

cyanosis " Mrs. . My cousin and the ENT were the only docs who said

they would not let it go at that. Too bad the docs treating daughter for

that did not feel the same way and I blindly followed. Still, a sleep

study would have yielded maybe a siezure and lead to aluminum laced

,meds so perhaps we netted out better off.

So, after much research, on the theory that their bones need calcium,

their bodies need it to pull the bad out and magnesium is needed to keep

things in check, I ordered the Kirkman liqiod. I used Kirkman because

they have been around along time, deal with the autism population so I

figured I could trust them even if the statements are not FDA approved.

I figured if they were selling bad stuff parents would speak up and I'd

find out. In the end though this was a leap of faith. Their literature

disturbed me. It indicates lead is in theirs and all calcium supplements

but thet theirs is at a safe level. I do not believe there is a safe

level of lead for our kids but I knew my kids were never going to get

enough broccoli to cover this.

I gave it to them in applesauce first thing in the morning because with

food more is absorbed and I did not want to seal in the metal initially.

I gave the RDA thinking that was okay. My son voided what appeared to be

5 lbs of grey odorless sludge that day and lots of brown pee...the same

pee I had all last year on that water. My daughter simply peed a lot. I

gave them 1 tsp (1/2 RDA) the next day and his poop was brown sludge and

much less of it and she still peed a lot but her pee on both days was

never brown.

I only did this whole thing after labs showed good kidney function mind

you.

From this and all the loose stool from the beginning, all the sludge

voided by son via diet and all the pee with him all along it occurred to

me that my boy has an amazing body and has voided so much all along as

part of self preservation. It also told me my daughter's poop has never

been the right color and while she has pooped daily it has not been what

she should have, was chalky, and she probably has worse gut issues than

son but better kidneys.

I stopped after two days and returned three days ago. I am stopping

again. My son's poop is now dry despite fish oil. My daughter is pooping

rocks. Daughter is peeing a decent amount but not too much and son is

peeing too much.

From a learning improvement standpoint both are doing well. The thing

is I must protect their bodies. I suppose in the future we will have to

return to this but maybe once every few days...taken with more food in

them, etc. For now, it is back to just fish oil.

I am past anger at the fact that I should not be figuring this out alone

or with other similarly ignored parents and that the only docs who help

are not treating my kids. I just have to keep plugging along and finding

medical help.

:)
