Guest guest
Okay we just started levocarn as well last week and boy does his poop smell. It is also a dark black/brown which it has never been but it is solid. > > My son only takes 3.5ml of prescription Levocarn daily. Guest guest
Yes, it is normal. It is a result of low the levocarnitine is broken down in the bowel. You should be giving it with food because it could cause stomach upset if you give it alone. In our case it greatly improved our son's appetite. He jumped from the 5th to the 25th percentile in height and weight. (My husband and I are both short so this is perfect for him.) It also helps with digestive motility. Since correcting his carnitine deficiency he has also had completely normal (if a bit smelly) bowel movements. HTH, Nadine
Guest guest
That is good to know. He had his carnitine levels checked by his DAN and they were in the basement. I think his were like a 4 and they should be between 25-54. So I am suppose to work up to like 2 or 3 TSP per day. I have only been giving one so far and it has helped his poop get better.
