Guest guest
> My daughter andria was on the Ketogenic diet for 15 mons......she didi very well with seizure control yes she still had seizures but they went from daily to one a week or one a month. She was sick on the diet and always acidotic but at the time we did not have the dx we have now. So we took her off due to other complications. I wish we had few seizures like we did then....our daughters seizures have also changed over time. Any questions feel free to e mail me. It is a difficult diet and takes time but once you get the hang of it things and better. I would make multiple meals at a time then when she got a g tube we used a special carbohydrate free formula. It can be difficult when going out to eat as a family we never ordered french fries or pasta. How old is you child? Our neurologist has asked us to think about giving it a try. We are having no success at controlling Wyatt's seizures. He either spends the morning or night seizing or he is so drugged up from all of the diastat that he spends the day in a haze. His quality of life has started to decrease and we don't have too many options left when it comes to meds. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Gerri-Anne, This is one subject I can contribute to here! My daughter has PDH, and started the diet at 3 years of age due to deteriorating health from anticonvulsants and uncontrolled seizures. For her, this has been the best move. Not all children respond well to the diet (just like not all children respond the same to anticonvulsants). There is a lot to learn, but once you have the hang of it, and the child improves, the effort is all well worth trying. Gaby is totally G tube fed, but she has also had oral feeds as well at different times. If I can, I will be happy to answer any questions.s Hopkins Hospital; has the main ketogenic diet centre. You can see the diet outine at their site. ne, mum to Gaby almost 10! PDH, keto diet, and off to Disney soon with MOW all the way from Australia!
